I dont mention the forum anymore.

I say 'I've heard' or 'Someone told me' etc etc

I always get the info from the forum and they probable know it, but not mentioning it seems to do the trick.

Shouldn't need to do it this way but if it gets the job done I will.

Going in on Friday for the gearbox fix, although they're replacing synchro on 1st and 2nd as pr a bulletin they've found.

Also replacing clutch release bearing. I told them I think its going as it sometimes makes a noise when cold. They couldn't hear it but as they are taking the gearbox out they will do it anyway.

Also replacing O/S headlight as the height adjustment doent work.

right....just got car back this morning..not happy :(

the mechanic said he took it out this morning and didnt find anything wrong with the 2nd gear :o he even said he tried another ctr and found that it seemed the same :S told me the problem could be that i havnt been pressing the clutch down to the bottom when changign from 1st to 2nd....lies!!

i then told him that loads of owners have already had or booked their ctrs in to get the fix for 2nd gear, and he just said that they havent had any in for that and have never heard anyone complain about it....even though they are the biggest sellers of ctrs in the uk

i just couldnt be arsed to explain anymore, and said if u wanna find out and read about this nationwide problem, just go on this forum

he did say that the service guys will contact hondauk about this, and see what feedback they get.

this would be much easier if someone who has seen the bulletin can paste a copy of it on here :D

just picked it up said had to strip the gearbox and replace 5th and 6th which was causing the prob .....

big test is 2mo morning :) dam should of slipped him a £10'r to fit me an lsd
I've had the new gearbox fix for just over a week now and it seems to be ok. The shift from 1st to 2nd is a lot smoother now, even when the 'box is cold! Hopefully it's a long term fix this time.
cool...

yeah mine now works fine !! past the test this mornin and on way home from work :D :D :D :D
What dealer is that?? Have you got their number??

THANKS
honda doncaster 01302360055
just called them and spoke to the service manager chris, and he said that its only a problem if the 2nd gear stiff even when the engine is warmed up :? he also said that it is completely normal for 2nd gear to be stiff and notchy when the engine and gears are cold

now im confused

OMG!!! check this out....

springfield sunderland = didnt find anything wrong with gear, and knew nothing about the bulletin thats gone out to dealers about the 2nd gear fix.

springfield gateshead = heard nothign about any fix for the 2nd gear problem.

springfield newcastle = phoned, asked them about it, said theyd try and find out, called me back and told me they just got the bulletin in, and hadnt even had time to print it out yet :o WOOT!! told me to book it in and they will order the fix parts and sort it out for me...without even asking for me to take it in to check it :D now thats called service!!

heres the lesson then, call as many dealers as you can, and dont give up!!
also, some dealers will try and talk their way out of anything...even if the problem is so blatent and wide spread

Mine went in a couple of weeks back for this.

Fitted new cone? (Not sure what it is but I knodded and humered the mechanic) and synchro between 5th and 6th as this apparently affects 1st to 2nd.

Anyway had it back and 1st to 2nd was loads better whilst 5/6th seemed spring loaded.

Done a few miles with it over last couple of weeks and all seems to have bedded in and is sweet.

Dont know what the official bullet-in is for the fix, but there deinatley is one!!!!

just got mine back from my local dealer and it does feel better :D

went for a test drive with one of engineers after telling them about the problem and he could tell straight away that something didn't feel right and said it felt like the synchros had gone.

Will see over time if the problem comes back!!

Well, initial impressions are that it's been fixed. Thanks must go to Jody Boyle at Avonvale Solihull for getting it all sorted for me (headlamps, rear suspension arm, drive shaft heatshield (I think it was that?!) and the second gear fix, amongst other things. Knew his stuff and was very good to deal with. Top bloke :)

I have had the same problem with the gearbox on my 30th AE which has only covered 11K. The dealer offered to fix it straight away as it was a known issue and ordered the parts in. However, having picked it up about three weeks ago I found that 1st to 2nd is slightly better but the problem now is that 5th to 6th is stiff. Has anyone found that this eventually improves with some mileage?

After reading this thread, I have emailed the dealer that I bought the car from to see if they are aware of this bulletin. If they are, then I am going book the car in and get this gear thing sorted asap ;)

Not got mine back yet.

Went in last Friday.

As well as doing the fix the dealer found a bearing that didn't feel right. They then had to get the replacement under warranty approved and get the part in.

Should be finishing it off tomorrow.

Back tomorrow night.

Hope the fix works. Had a week in a Jazz!!!!!
