Well at the weekend during a back lane blast the clutch has started to slip. So it's clutch time.
Decided to go with a genuine Honda clutch kit. Holdcroft Honda sell these on eBay for £159 inc delivery. Bargin!
Then as the box is out, invested in a Mfactory helical LSD.
Busy weekend for me! I'll update when the work is completed.

Changed the clutch and the diff today. Took me around 6-7 hours. Few pals came down to basically watch and take the piss so slight distraction at times. Plus another full geo set up after pulling the subframe down.
Took a few photos but was more focused on getting the job done.
First of all the clutch. Absolutely shot! Old vs new you can see how worn the friction plate is.

Now stripping the gearbox isn't all that difficult. The hardest part is trying to get the casings apart without damaging anything. I must of spent a good 15mins trying to break the seal. But when it's apart you get this.

As I was collecting the parts pre fitting I found Tegiwa's service bulletin on the final drive bolts. I'm glad I found this otherwise you can't bolt on the final drive gear to the new diff. I looked on Lings Honda to see if my car has these bolts fitted but it came up with a different number. I then tried earlier and later years and they all came up with the same number which is the longer bolt with the shoulder. So if you're going to fit an Mfactory diff be sure to buy these bolts!!

Haven't done much driving in it yet. But it's been raining and it makes such a difference. Normal driving you'd never know. But start being a prat accelerating in the wet round corners and it just pulls you round with no horrible wheel spin or understeer. Highly recommend doing this mod. I did consider changing the final drive but it's more cost and I wasn't so sure I'd like the higher revving on motorways etc.
Doubt I'll get anymore track days in this year. Planning another Nurburging trip around Easter. So maybe a pre track day before going.
If anyone would like more information or advice on changing the clutch or diff I'm happy to help :-D

Got hold of some second hand Spoon calipers. These are pretty expensive for what you get. But, the running costs is far cheaper as they use the standard sized discs, pads and hoses. I didn't fancy wasting the set of pads I'm currently using as they set me back £180!
Calipers are in good condition. Just needed a little clean up. Can't get them fitted for another week as I'm going away. Will update when they're fitted.

The Spoon logo was pitted so needed rubbing down. I used a fibre pad on a drill so it doesn't take away too much material but gives it a nice polished finish. Not sure if there's much about to seal the finish that'll withstand a lot of heat.

Found some time this evening to fit the spoon calipers.
Fairly straight forward. Bit of trimming to the disc guard but nothing a grinder couldn't sort out.
Old calipers seemed to have worn the inner pads uneven. Annoying as these pads cost a lot of money and now will wear prematurely. Sill got some half worn DS2500 to use so not the end of the world.
Feel good on the road. Real test will be on the track. Tempted to do one more track day this year but unsure as the weather is unpredictable.
Few pictures. Excuse the dirt, I'll get some clean pictures soon.

Increase in stopping power felt ?

Doing brand's hatch 14th Dec, if your interested
Feel better under the pedal. Difficult to see if they perform much better in this wet and cold conditions. Suppose it's easier to get the abs to cut in
Tempted for the track day. Never done brands hatch. I'll have to see how much money I've got left from Christmas shopping.

Look far better when clean!

Still haven't had a good chance to really push the brakes but overall they feel and perform better than the standard caliper.
Next on the list is fog light ducts and make up some cooling for the brakes. Stuke front splitter and rear diffuser and either a seibon mugen rep or find a second hand genuine mugen rep rear wing. Or if someone finally makes a fibreglass rep that actually fits properly.
