If he takes installments I'd be on it!

Possibly flogging my unused H9 so that'll give me some more bucks toward a car. First choice would still be a 172 cup...but, at £2.5k for a dogged example then the extra cost of prepping it...

What's the Paxo vendetta all about anyway?!

VTR for sale at the minute, £750 fully caged and stripped but they're a little gutless. no?

I don;t knwo it depends what your using it for really. There seems to be two types of trackday goers at the moment. there are those who turn up in a tricked out turbo'd jp monster with 550bhp and all the power they could ask for who blitz on the straights and are slow and uncontrolled through the corners, Then you see them very same cars being chased by a little Saxo VTR or 1.6 Fiesta Si which has had sensbible handling mods done. I would say start on something lower powered which is easily upgradable ( et voila the saxo VTR) leanr to drive that and then make it better as you go on. The thing of stripping yourself too gives you much more initmate knowledge of the car. Saxo's are so simple anyway, the last of the 80's style hatch build, no electric gubbins to worry about.

In fact just go get a saxo, do it now or your going to get me going through bloody ebay again dreaming of what i would do to one.

But remember to keep it sensible. when you get one, strip it service it and stick a cage in it. Then your good to go.

If you get a chance read this brilliant track build, guy called Ian of the Seatcupra.net forum. His was a little Arosa 1.4 that was dsigned for taking tot he ring, he was bloody quick in it, shame it met a grizzly end, but it shows that the safety gear he had in the car saved his life, have a look, for inspiration.

PS how easy is it to get a K20 in a saxo, i've seen one with the k20 in the rear of a saxo but not front??????

heres that thread

Just spent what felt like my whole life reading that thread, then it gets closed! What Hapened?

I've seen Ian a couple of times since the accident and he's fine. Last time I saw and spoke to him (just before Christmas) it was being dealt with by his insurance company and he didn't want any online discussion on the subject.

I was there when it happened and it wasn't pleasant.

Whatever car you want, I'd want the chassis as modern as possible. Renault and Honda are showing what a low powered car with a cracking chassis can do against competition with far more power.

Got no probs with the Saxo Pawn. Just thinking from a money perspective. A Saxo needs a lot of work/money on it to drive as well as a standard DC2 does with just 888's on it.

I would not want a twenty year old XR2 with a turbo engine as a track car.

Have you considered a mk2 Golf GTI? I know several that run them as track cars. Same with E36 BMWs. You'll see a wide variety of cars on Friday, have a chat to drivers and it'll give you some good ideas.

The 106/Saxo chassis is good. Combined with little weight. :salut: Not overly fussed about out and out powaaah, so long as it's cheap, fun and easy to maintain.

DC2's are still in the realms of £4k. Parts are more expensive etc. too.

Kept on eye out and the 'mods' I'd need do come up cheap. Biding my time and being patient's the hardest bit.

Not looked at golfs nor E36's as yet. Definitely a possibilty. NA is all I'd look at though, want a degree of reliability.

Kinda thinking a VTS might be underpowered now.

Got caned on the straights by loads of stuff yesterday, even in the Meg. Might wait and save some more for a 172 cup ready for next year.

Don't want to spend all my time looking in my mirrors rather than enjoying the day.

That sheddy Silver one rocked my World!

Saying that; someone's bid's been withdrawn on that VTS...back down to £400, it's tempting even if I only have it for a year, I won't lose money.

Spoke briefly to Mark about it; they stress the car a helluva lot. Need to know more about what I'm doing to go full slicks. Cage, extra bracing and polybushed minimum I'd think.
