If i do will it give me any better performance
or just sound better
Next who makes them and supplies them .

Just keep the standard one by the sound of it. Its unlikely that you can do what you are asking :?
If you do want to swap just get an HKS Blitz or Quickshift Ind bolt on, change it in about 15mins so it not much hassle to do.

get a quickshift - larkspeed do them for about £100.00

simple to fit, keep exisitng box for when car serviced etc

and cheap enough not to break bank

The results of various tests have shown that the following filters perform in this order.

1. Blitz Sonic - Cotton Gauze - Best
2. Quikshift - Stainless Mesh Gauze
3. HKS - Foam - Worst

There is a thread somewhere highlighting a test of these type of filters.

What about KN. No one seems to be fitting them to the CTRs. Is there any particular reason?

The info i gave can apply to any manufacturer, the test i was refering to is that Cotton Gauze has shown to be the best, with Foam being the worst.

AEM and K&N were the best in the test for filteration, the K&N was the best.
Think it's just jap car owners would rather go for Blitz n HKS for their motors?

That looks something I might need soon...

Out of interest - when you fit a new air intake do you have to upgrade anything else along with it?

Or can you just upgrade the intake and off you go?

Cheers.

Just upgrade the intake and off u go. Any optionals like heat shields or extra ducting to provide more cold air while on the move is your choice.
