The tracer dart is an unlock to replace the pistol. You fire it (strangely, it has no drop off in the demo) at enemy vehicle or gun emplacements. Gets you 30 points but means that the engineer's RPG can lock onto a target and your almost guaranteed to hit it, rather than having to guess where to fire. The tracer firer also gets 30 extra points for contributing the vehicle's demise.

But it flashes bright red and it's hilarious firing it at people...

Got notification from Game that mine was packed yesterday and should be here tomorrow or Thursday

Interesting vid, the PS3 actually wins the anti-aliasing battle with ease! Significantly less jaggies and smoother colour graduation. Well done DICE

First review from Eurogamer. They love it! Even the SP seems to be a massive improvement from the first game:
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is quite simply a superb package, with neither single-player nor online feeling like it's been given short shrift. They come together in the most robust, nuanced and carefully crafted game of its type this hardware generation. Modern Warfare is the obvious benchmark, and Bad Company 2 meets and even passes it with ease. But it's the high bar it sets for a genre mired in complacency that makes it so invigorating.

I've not ordered this but hope to pick it up on Friday. Just read some excellent reviews. I can't wait.

If the Bad Company 2 story isn’t as exhilarating as the one experienced in Modern Warfare 2, it more than makes up for it by completely outdoing Modern Warfare 2 in the multiplayer space.
Conclusion

Believe me when I say that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a far better game than the 2008 release that preceded it. Not only has the technology behind the Frostbite engine been improved but the multiplayer shows major signs of improvement and a willingness by DICE to push the boundaries further. The single player campaign, despite feeling like an added component to a 100% multiplayer focused experience, is much more streamlined and interesting this time around.

Regardless, if you are looking for an alternative to Modern Warfare 2, which has become a haven for numerous cheaters, bug-exploiters and other glitches recently, this one should fit the bill just fine!
