The best are the ester based 5w-40 synthetics such as the Silkolene Pro S or the Motul 300v http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx But you will not find them in halfrauds.

The best you can get in there would be either the Castrol Edge 0w-40 or the Mobil 1 0w-40.

hi oilman

just been doing some diggin arround, notice you on a lot of forums so it seems like you know your stuff and am now convinced that the oil i want to buy for my 2002 EP3 with 70k is the Silkolene Pro S 5w-40. I also notice periodically you do specials on this stuff, just not a the moment, right when i need to get my hands on it

I then noticed that i could signup on your web for discounts and offers. So i thought id also browse arround your site for a 'service pack' (as i need a filter too) and strangly enough the packs recommended are "Oil and Filter Service Pack HONDC37C & HONDC37B", but none of the oils in these packs are mentioned in this thread  ?? and i have gone-off the Castrols after what i have read here! I am a bit confused as these 6L 0w-30 deals look good ....but are they really something i should consider?

I am confused.com

same as everyone else, the thread packs so much info i cant seem to find what i want. i hope you can answer some noobie questions for me oilman

CTR EP3 55 reg with 40k, i dont know what oil is in it so what oil (best price for performance) do i use to top it up with? i thought i always have to top up oil with exactly the same grade, but this thread has suggested otherwise. is there like one grade which can top up over every other oil?

i noticed there are a few recommended oil for EP3, like 0w30, 0w40 etc, which is the best one for all year round?

thanks a lot

All engine oils mix so if you need to top up, top up with something rather then nothing. If you can stick to the same quality/viscosity.

The engine is happy on 0w-30, 5w-30, 0w-40, 5w-40 synthetics as top choices. Most popular from us is 5w-40.

hi, we here only have one Honda dealer and i would like to know what motor and gearbox oil you would advise me to use. ambient temp is normally around
24-34 degrees C

they are only 4 ep3 here which are JDM with the LSD, those guys are usin Redline 75-80 gearbox oil and 10-30 motor oil (not sure about if syn or non-syn),
since the dealer here does not have the honda gearbox oil what else can i use with out problems?

its a 2005 ep3 with under 30,000 on the dial ( i believe this maybe miles since its a EDM)

GREAT READ!!!

so just to comfirm i can use the Redline 75-80 LSD oil in the my EP3 non LSD box with out problems?

oilman wrote:Do you mean the Redline 75w-80 MTL? Is so it will be ideal.

For the engine, depends what you can get? But a goood 5w-30, 5w-40, 0w-40 synthetic are all ideal.

Cheers

Guy
