I've had my 05 plate CTR for about 11 months now but do about 25000 work miles a year and change my cars regularly to try and not loose any money. I had an 04 CTR from new but only for a short time but remembered it with fond memories so bought another one last December as my work car. The problem is that the CTR now has really got under my skin and I want to keep it but it has always had a couple of niggles and want to get it back to perfect factory standard condition.

Problem 1.
When driving quickish in say 3rd at about 60mph down a bumpy B road when the car bottoms out on normal bumps in the road it gives a bit of a vibration noise/feeling through the car. Ideally I would like to drive another CTR to see if it is a characteristic of the CTR or not, if so I would happily live with it, but I don't remember it on my previous Type R. Its the sort of thing that is quite slight but I'm fussy and notice things so then it really ruins the car for me. Engine mounts were the only possible I was thinking???

Problem 2.
The other thing is the classic 80-90Mph steering wheel wobble on smooth motorways. When I got the car I had the tracking and wheel balance done in an attempt to solve it but didn't correct it. Since then I have purchased a spare wheel and sequentially swapped out the existing wheels one by one to see if there was a rogue wheel with a flat spot. When I replaced the front off side it did get better but not completely. Both TGM and my very good local mechanic could not find anything wrong with the suspension etc so I am still thinking rogue wheels so have now purchased one brand new CTR wheel to swap that around the car when it arrives. Also was going to replace the current average tyres for Michelin pilot super sport tyres as I have always found them soft and supple and thought that might help the problem that is driving me mad.

is the vibration worse on load, and eases off when your on over run? I had this for ages, and couldn't work it out, turned out it was the OSF driveshaft, swapped it out, problem solved.

Thanks for the reply. No it's no worse under load, 'Problem One' is more when your driving at speed but constant and most noticeable in third classically down a bumpy B road.

'Problem 2' the 80-90mph wobble I think must be a flat spot wheel as balancing was done. Going to put the brand new wheel I have purchased on and have all the other wheels I seem to have collected, looked at by a local company that straightens out wheels and refurbs them to pick the best of the bunch and fingers crossed that might do it with the combined of a new set of rubber. If not I'm selling it!!

My bro has the vibration wobble, changed all four tyres, re aligned, balanced 3 times and changed the track rod ends. Problem still there...

Is it oem suspension?

I changed my steering rack slider too, that was noticeable.

Not sure about OEM Suspension, I will take it to TGM and have it serviced and looked into.

Are you saying by changing your steering rack slider that solved your problem?

Didn't solve it, but it made a noticeable difference, and the old one that came out was noticeably worn.
I also recently changed my wishbone bushes, and that has pretty much solved it
