Ok, so as the weather was nice this weekend I decided to 'attack' the glazed over problem with EP3 headlights. I have heard various ways of getting rid of this film over the headlights including using toothpaste! However, I decided to use Halfords very own 'Rubbing Compound'.

Here is what you need:
- Halford Rubbing Compound (£3.99)
- Polishing Cloths
- Masking Tape
- Clean Water
- Determination and about 2 hours free time
- Polish (for after)

Here is what they were like to start with and a common problem with EP3's (only remembered to get a photo of the drivers side before I started but gives you an idea what they were like):

Firstly, I cleaned each light off with clean water and wiped down to get rid of all dirt. I then masked off the lights using masking tape. Apply the Halfords Rubbing Compound directly to the light and using a damp cloth work the compound into the light in a circular motion applying even pressure.

Eventually, when the compound becomes a light powdered layer, remove with a clean dry cloth. At this point, re-assess the affected areas and repeat until the lights look like new! ...see below:

To finish off, I then used car polish to buff the lights off to a new shine.

Getting brand new lights for £3.99 and 2 hours work is totally worth it!

Hope this helps others in the same boat,

Didn't work for me. Also if you look closely they look better than they are, the water makes it look more shiny.

For the sake of £3.99, I would rather get a Rubbing Compound to do a proper job!

I tried the Meguiars Headlight restoration kit with the Drill-operated Buff wool pad, the results were nowhere near as good as Donkeys and it cost me £20

I haven't heard of this kit but I am glad I didn't! Honestly took a couple of hours and a bit of elbow grease and the results speak for themselves. Best £3.99 I have spent on the car.

With mine I used some 3000 grit wet and dry paper on each side then got my mate to go over them with his rotary polisher. They looked new when I'd finished.
