Is it worth while considering the Skunk2 Cams?

Seen these on Eight Speed, but I haven't heard of many people using them.

Re-building the head sound like a ball ache that I could do with out, but if it turn out that the Toda Cams are the way forward then so be it!

Either way i'll keep a look out to see what my options are.

i would love some aggressive cams but only thing stopping me is the rebuilding of the head

with dc5/fd2 cams they are just a straight swap so obviously alot cheaper for fitting

iv been told that dc5/fd2 cams you can see betwween 5-10bhp mapped, now i know n/a tuning is expensive but is approx £1200 for the cams, fitting and mapping worth the extra 5-10bhp?? personally if im paying that much money i would like to see some good gains

Does't exactly sould like much of a good option, when you consider the cost.

Its a bit of a shame really that they never developed the K20a engines a tad bit more, but Im not gona complain.

In my eyes my CTR is at 230Bhp, if I could get it to 250, there or abouts, with out going for forced induction then I would be chuffed to bits.

I've always had doubts about having more than 250Bhp put too the front wheels.

I think cams are a good option its just a huge cost I need to look into them further, but for now I'm going to get a rbc and get it mapped and see what she's like then.

IV had kpro a few days my god the car feels so much better alot more pull through the gears and the car feels alot more quicker.

Maybe look at getting a kpro and then collecting the rest of your mods bit by bit.

As far as my Mods go for engine, I've installed:

ITG Maxogen
DC Sports Racing Header
Fujitsubo Rm0-1a
Quaife LSD
Stage 1 Competion Clutch
Hondata k-pro

Apart from the RBC I was struggling to figure out what else I could do, trying to keep in N/A. Cams and Pistons was all else I thought of :scratch:

I will say that, with the K-Pro The car feels great. In my opinion, the best mod that I have done so far is the LSD. Its great being able to get the power down, especially when pulling through a bend!!

well since our summer finally came even if its in october

iv bought some powerflex exhaust mounts as iv split one of my oems

i also decided to spray the grills on my carbon bonnet as i dont like the silver mesh


firstly i masking taped the area up and used a newspaper/leaflet to cover the bonnet to avoid any over spray.

then i rubbed the mesh down with some ruff sandpaper to key it
then i sprayed the mesh area lightly with grey primer leaving it to dry inbetween
then i gave it 4 or 5 light sprays of metalic grey paint leaving it to dry in between coats
once dry i gave it 2 coats of clear laquer and left it to dry

i attended a rolling road day at tdi-north i managed 226bhp and 160ftlbs this was running the rsx cold air map which i swapped straight after the run because it was running lean at the top end.

I was running the exact same bhp on that map before I got it mapped properly iirc

ye they are the engine mods iv done do far ivgot a rbc waiting to fitted and then its mapping time but im not sure whether or not to get some jdm or skunk2 stage 1 cams before i get it mapped.

iv changed the map to the tuned ep3 map as it was running lean at 5000rpm and the top end

Nice Power and mods :bigthumb: How much did the Lsd set you back? It's a big problem on corner exits without!!!

You just quoted crabby but IV done near enough the same.

I went for a mfactory LSD I bought it through a group buy on here I think I paid £450 or something and then fitting but I also had my clutch and flywheel swapped at the same time by 8 speed. I think fitted your looking at around £1000 including the LSD,bearings,gearbox fluid and sealant but I would get a new clutch if you need one at the same time

I think its an awesome mod and it improves the car hugely you can increase your corner speeds and the grip on tap is massive

Yeah i know , i think it's cause the jap's performance car market is more suited to track use . The Uk market is focused on potholes and going slow!!!

Just a quick update IV purchased a RBC intake manifold, tegiwa thermal TB gasket and a hondata gasket IV booked in at Tdi-north north next week for the rbc and a map hopefully It should improve the car hugely

I bought the rbc 2nd hand off the site and it came full of deep scratches and it hadn't been looked after

so I sent it to bren who's worked his magic and done an awesome job of refurbing it, I think it'll look awesome in the engine bay once fitted
