Being honest with you, I'm not good with some engine model numbers. The K20 is in the current and previous generation of Civics isn't it? The current Civics like a 0w-30, the previous ones want a 5w-40. For the best 0w-30, go for the Gulf Competition

It's not so easy to say what the best 5w-40 is as there are a lot more of them. Silkolene Pro S, Gulf Competition, Millers CFS, Redline and Motul 300V are absolute top end oils, as good as or better than anything else on the markets at the moment.

The Royal Purple test that most people see is a very biased one, using equipment that has no relation to the workings of engine (minimal heat, no combustion). Here are some comments from a leading oil chemist on the Falex test the magazine test (sponsored by Royal Purple if I remember correctly) uses.

http://docs.google.com/View?id=dfjpbcch_0cd3v2hgb

As you can see, if you want to go with the results of that magazine test, you're best off popping down to Tesco and picking up a 12 pack of lager. As you can see via the link, an engine is the best place to test oils. Our sponsored drivers do that for us. They probably test the oil a whole lot harder than anyone else, and their engines seem to remain in better condition than they should. They use good oils, the Silkolene Pro S and R and Motul 300V generally and none of them have even asked us to get hold of Royal Purple.

Cheers
