Great post, but which are the best?

I've rotated my tyres and will be needing a set of 4 very soon.

Having had Goodyear Eagle F1's on my Accord Type-R, I was hoping to put them on my CTR; but as we all know they have no intention of doing 205's.

I've read elsewhere on here that the Pirelli P Zero's are good; I've also had the Falken's recommended by 2 guys in the trade.

Anyone got any experience of the Continental's or the Dunlop's.

I want to put 205's on again. HELP !

JPS & Myself are going to give the Federals a whirl as the indepenent tests of the SS595's have put them above the Bridgestone S02's and the Dunlop 9000's. At 55 quid a corner it's a bargain to try.

I'm with ya there mate! You can't get a much better looking tread anywhere and if the tyres live up to their reviews then they are a bargain.

Federal SS595's here we come!!!!!

I'd be very interested to hear your findings on these tyres. If they are are as good as they sound we're in!

I was just having a think about CTR tyres today at the same time as digging out my Mrs' motor insurance certificate so I can tax her Scenic :(

Putting two and two together made me wonder whether fitting 215s to the CTR would be classed as a mod for insurance purposes.

I've got a feeling some insurers would class it as a mod as clearly the car is no longer in its standard form ie the day it was driven away from the dealership.

I'm not wanting to kick off a massive insurance debate but just thought I would share my little Saturday thought with you guys.

Just expanding my "thought for the day" :vconf:

I am sure I have been asked during the quote process as to whether I have changed the standard wheels and tyres.

Greta thread boys.
I will get some yokos next.
They are brilliant ive had them before.
They stick to the road like glue but being a softer compound they dont last long.
Doesnt matter to me as long as ive got grip who cares.

I had Yoko A539's on the last car and they were great in the dry (very sticky) but it was like skating on ice when it was wet.

Also the compound is very soft and will wear quickly and they are also very easy to light up.

I wouldn't have them again but thats just IMO.

Great post, Stu, many thanks.

Think I might try a set of the Federals also - nothing to lose. :)

Cheers mate!

Muchos Grassyarse and all that!

To be honest mate, I don't think anyone has found a top drawer replacement for the Potenza yet? As much as people slag it off, it's not actually that bad and suits the CTR down to the ground due to it's very stiff side walls.

However I've a mate who swore by his Federal SS595's on an Evo. Very nice tyre by all accounts.

This was from the following thread: http://www.civictype-r.co.uk/forum/vie ... 6&start=15

Adambsmith wrote:
Those Falkens look cool - where have you heard the good news about them Stu?

It was the Federal's I'd heard good things about.

Designed by Bridgestone & Dunlop and made by Bridgestone for Federal.

They are trying to crack the European market so are selling them at intentionally low prices.

Here's some more info.
http://www.federaltyres.com.au/car/ss595.htm
http://www.federaltire.com.tw/usa/pcrss595/ss595.html

And here's the TVTC test report against 3 of it's rivals.
http://www.federaltire.com.tw/usa/tvtc.html

You can pick these tyres up in 215/40/17 from http://www.topgear.co.uk for around 55 quid a corner.

If they are good as they say then they are a bargain.

Hope this helps?

Thanks a lot for this Evostu.

Still got a fair bit of tread left front and back but I'd like to try something different when the time comes.
