Burning Rubber!

Hey all,

I use my car solely on the road, I've had everything loads of different brand tyres. RE040, T-1R, Parada spec 2, fk452, pilot exalto 2, conti sport 3 et ...

But i've never really been satisfied with the tire wall stiffness of anything but the bridgestone's. Its a shame i did think they were good enough in the wet.
I know they have the new RE050's which people say are better in wet. I also thought the Michelin pilot sport 2's were pretty good. But I keep reading about a lot of posts praising the AD08R's.

Mileage isnt a problem for me. I only do about 5-6k a year.

Based purely on the grip levels in Wet and Dry conditions in the UK. Which would suit me better?

'Semi slick' or track tyres aren't that bad in the wet. It's when it comes to large amounts of standing water that you'll be struggling with.
Another myth is track tyre compounds aren't that soft. They're actually pretty hard as they're designed to cope with lots of heat. So under normal driving, grip levels aren't that much better than a high performance road tyre. Get some heat into them and they'll out perform.
Personally I wouldn't bother. I'd buy a road tyre designed for the road. I've ran RE050a for both road and track and for a road tyre they handled it all very well.
