Went to the track (again  ) and had the same problem with brakes, again...

After pushing the Type R for two days on "The Ring" the brakes went bad. Looks like the discs have a temp Problem.
Its not because of the extra power I drive. I had this problem with stock conditions also. And its not because of my driving style.
I kown how to drive around the track. Doing this for more then 10 years now. Brake late and hard and as short as possible. So that brake gets not to hot and has time to rest. Thats always the Goal.
I did a braking-in on the pads and discs for at least 1000km. So, thats all fine....

The brake discs surface changes in some areas. And this makes the brake pedal and the front axle start to rattle and shake. Very nasty to drive.

Went to Honda and they want to replace it on garantee. So far, so good.
But as this happens again and again, I wonder if anyone here had or has the same problem.
I know a couple of Type R Drivers who have. And even a Honda dealer, that is driving in a national race series, confirmed, that front brake problem for the street Version of the Type R....

So, if you know what i am talking about, feel free to report your experience.
For all the others out there. Beware of this problem and keep it in mind, when going to the track.
I am working on a solution for this. Pads, Disc, more air to cool the brake down....will let you know.

This it what it looks like...

The fix is better pads. The pads supplied will be a compromise for street and track. The vibrations will be pad deposits stuck to the discs caused by the pad compound and overheating the pads beyond their operating temperature.

@Lewisgame
tested the following pads already on two cars with new discs:
- OEM
- Ferodo DS2500
- CL RC6E Sintered Metal Material, up to 1000°C Operation temp
- Dixcel R23c Carbon Semi Metal
Same result every time. Disc goes bad!

@Vissa
Really? Come on! I found out pretty quick that a 4mm drill works the best...

Have you removed the backing plates?

Another option is larger discs (width). ATR calipers & discs 300x28 and CL RC6.
I had no fade with this setup and the discs were hardly worn after 3 trackdays, its the heat that seems to make them wear.

Yes, removed the backing plates.
Bigger disc will help, but there is none available right now, because the car is to new.
We are talking about the "new" TypeR 2015. Stock disc is 350x32.

Have you ever been driving on "The Ring"?
Its not like any other track. This is the ultimate test for cars and parts. You know very fast if things work or not.
For example: Braking into "Aremberg" it feels like the whole weight of the car sits on the front axle. The rear gets extremly light....So the front brake has to do all the work.
And the stress on the car and parts is 18(!!!) times higher than on normal roads.
And believe me, I am not going there for sightseeing. Doing "BtG" in 07:55 there is no time to smell the roses

On the other hand. There's plenty of fast straights to cool the brakes down. Maybe not so much after the karussell but before that point there's only a few (4-5 maybe) very hard braking points. I found my brakes had less of a hard time compared to tracks I've done here in the UK. But maybe that's because I've only ever done 21 laps of the ring and I'm only doing mid to late 8 min laps in a less powerful and lighter car.

Back again...

So I did a brake upgrade.
Went for the Tarox disc and CL pads. Looks and works good so far.

I also did some extra brake cooling. HCTR showed up with a Performance duct and sheet.
Tested it on the track and found out, that my brake temp was approx. 150° Celsius lower than my friends OEM was.

So you might want to check it out.
