Looking to have a diff put in soon so I thought I'd get the final drive done at the same time.
I suppose what I'm trying to say is, would you notice better in gear acceleration with a set of drop in cams, or a final drive?
Cheers guys

So basically a 5.1 is the one to go for, but with JDM 4,5 and 6?So i am running 5.1 with stock gears, so all the same separation between the gears at OEM , but all the gears are lowered by the same amount. These ratios are perfect for 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear as you can get just about get traction with a full bolt on engine. To me 4th , 5th still feel pretty long, you can do around 105 mph in 4th and 125 in 5th, with 6th being a motorway cruising gear ( around 158 mph max). The JDM 4th and 5th are lower than the EUDM one, so if you put them in, you have the same 1st 2nd and 3rd, with a lower 4th and 5th. The end result is a nice close ratio 5 speed box, with a 6th gear overdrive for the motorway. This will suit most track work, here is a vid of a guy with this set up:
Why would this be different to having a 5.1fd but all on oem?
Thanks

If you just buy a mega low FD, say 5.4, all your gears are lowered even further than the 5.1, meaning traction will be an issue in 1st and 2nd, while 3rd 4th and 5th will be good. Here is a vid of a 5.46 FD:

I only managed a 14.88 with a passenger , although terminal speed was 102 mph though so i recon if i got a warm day i would be able to run in the low to mid 14's. I might go again at the end of the season but i have a couple of track days to do first (Japfest included ).
