Driving to work this morning and the eml light came on drove home tonight and plugged a code reader in its coming up "PO325 knock sensor 1" I've seen one to tegiwa for about £80 is this all I need or is there likely to be an issue as to why it's Come on ? The car drives fine.. Are they easy to replace or is it a garage job ?

Thanks

I had the same problem and bought a new cheapo replacement off evilBay. You can remove the sensor on the drive but it is a bit fiddly and it helps of you have small hands and a decent selection of socket extension bars. I wound in my new sensor only to feel something give well before the correct torque was reached. The sensor span round in the block without tightening up.

I thought I had stripped the threads in the block but after removing the radiator to gain full access I found the sensor had sheared. I got the remnants of the sensor in the block out eventually and got a free replacement from the eBay vendor. The metal on the pattern part is incredibly thin so watch out if you go down that route. I wound the second one in very gingerly and nowhere near the correct torque setting - Torque 31Nm – 23ft lbs. I replaced everything and it has been fine since.

Very fragile things, soon as you look at them they break!
due to heat from the engine and the radiator, they become brittle and any vibration/movement causes the plastic to break off from the metal.
