the toyo proxys aren't that fantastic when on track because they go off fairly quick and the side walls are a bit soft but would still be fine for your first time.the dunlops are an awesome track tyre.do you have baffled sump fitted Kieran.

You really should have a baffled sump for running semi slick tyres Kieran especially on track but you can get away with it if you just make sure the oil is topped up all the way or little over maximum so I was told. If you want some track tyres I just bought some Yokohama a048's for a great price from eBay. The seller has one full set left go have a look pal :bigthumb: never used them myself but are meant to be pretty epic in the dry.

Semi slicks and a track day :???: Think id rather spend a couple hundred on getting a baffled sump fitted than risk the engine going bang.

The reason for needing a baffled sump when running semi slicks like the yoko AO48/Dunlop direzza is because they grip so much more than a road tyre so obviously that leads to higher cornering speeds so the oil in the sump can move to one side starving the engine but a baffled sump minimises the movement of the oil.like w6ady said some people overfill the oil slightly but I'm with superman and wouldn't risk it personally.

the yoko AO48 that W6ady bought from eBay were a serious bargain and imo are the best semi slick out there,( I run them on the rear) but to be honest if your only going to do 1 or 2 tracks a year I don't think it's worth paying for a baffled sump and expensive semi slick tyres to waste on the road that your never going to take to their limits.but if you can see yourself going down the track route then yes.why not do a track day as the car is and see if you get bitten by the bug.another tyre that is great compromise between road and track is the Yokohama ADO8 and you wouldn't need a baffled sump with these. :bigthumb:

I am also with superman and sharrpy that's why I have had a baffled sump fitted before I start on the track days. :bigthumb: just saying people told me you can just overfill the oil a tad but as they have said I wouldn't personally risk the engine over £300 for a baffled sump insert fitted. I would love to come along just need some wheels and some more money! won't be till next year when I start doing them mate I'm afraid. Thanks for the offer though :bigthumb:

I run Bridgestone RE050A's. It's a good all round tyre for both road and track. Not cheap and you can get track tyres for similar price but track tyres are just wasted for every day use.

So, the buddy club rsd's have been playing up. locking collars constantly coming undone, knocking and lots of play in them.the da bushes inside the damper are shot after only 3 k miles.been looking into lots of other dampers with so many mixed opinions on all makes but I've decided to go with the new Meister R GT1. Car is up at Grinspeed having these fitted along with shorter steering arms with rose jointed track rod ends an I shifter light ,rbf 600 brake fluid and valve clearances done, picking it up on Monday.

Cool.i did do a fair bit of research on all the other makes taking into account reliability, performance on track and road, price, after sales,re build costs and availability of parts. Without stepping up to the big stuff like ohlins/nitrons which start at about £2300 I think these will suit my needs best.the only negative is they're new out so hardly any reviews but lewisgame has had his for a few weeks now and says they're awesome.

Yeah that's the ones Sean but lifetime warranty is only for the operation of the strut itself things like springs, top mounts etc you get the standard 1 year warranty.

Travelled up to Grinspeed on Monday to collect car.took it for a spin on some country roads and it felt like a totally different car it almost felt comfortable. On minor road imperfections it absorbed them with ease yet when pushing on in the bends the stability and feedback was still there even with the damping set halfway, it feels like the tyres are being worked in balance with the dampers.

Also went for slightly different toe settings on the front,it used to have 0.5 mm toe out each side but gone with zero toe now and it's almost eliminated torque steer compared to before.now it's just the diff working for grip.once I got home on my local roads I really felt the difference compared to the buddy clubs, I could push on a lot more without the car skipping all over the place.

Shifter light works really well too but will come into its own on track I just need to fiddle with the settings to get it how I want.now the valve clearances are done it sounds sweet and lost that little ticking it had.

As always Stevie and lee did a fantastic job and I really can't recommend them enough.i wouldn't take my car anywhere else.top guys!

A little update since fitting the Meister GT1 coilovers. Over the moon with them, performing great on the road and awesome on track.did oulton park a few months ago and the car was flying, dampers give really good feedback and when you play with the damping settings you can feel the change of characteristics in the car where as with the buddy clubs there wasn't much difference between soft and hard settings.

Also got my shifter light set up to what I want and it really helps on track giving you one less thing to think about and get the best out of the car without going near the limiter.would highly recommend one if you go on track.
