Hahahaha! I probably sleep less now I know it's out there! I feel fortunate to have got one at launch day, I haven't seen another one on the roads yet! People will stop and talk to you about the car which is cool and it gets plenty of looks. I have to say even the Golf R Fanboys stop to say how awesome it is and even a C63 AMG Driver stopped to say how good it was. Seems to draw people from all ages and driving backgrounds in, which in my belief is exactly what a hot hatch should do :)

Driving-wise, you won't regret it. It gets better the more miles go on it and the looser it get. I am taking it on a track day next month and I will post up some pictures/lap times. Only worry is the currently non-available tyres, continental are releasing at the end of this month but they will be very expensive I would imagine :(
Aye fair enough! You don't want anyone going near it during the night!!
That's cracking mate - getting a good response all round; certainly is a head turner. When I test drove it was amazing how many people would stare haha

Did the garage say to do a run in period or anything like that?
Found anything in the car or about the car you didn't know about? Like functions or menus on the car etc?

They didn't to be honest but I have always applied the following general new car things (probably a bit old fashioned these days):
  • No labouring the engine at all
Leaving the engine on for a couple mins following very hard driving (allowing the Turbo to slow down/cool properly)
Not going all out on the breaks for the first 1000 miles (letting them wear in properly)
The Honda CONNECT ICE system is fairly intuitive to use, so no complaints there; the connectivity is pretty good if you are planning to use Bluetooth or USB Audio as Source. Sound System is pretty good for a standard car, however; although its rated at 300Watts, I don't think that's 300W RMS (seems actually quite quiet to me, however; might be my source device).

Read the key fob instructions as well, there are lots of functions through various key combinations (Close all windows, Retract wing mirrors etc; very useful). Might be worth opening a Q&A thread once people start picking up their cars in Sep/Oct :)

Nice one mate, I'm definitely going do a run in period over the first 1000 miles or so. Probably initially keep the revs below 3000rpm for 100-200 miles then increase it to 4000/5000 for he next few hundred whilst also applying more boost. And then after 1000 start taking it around the Rev range :)
Don't know if that too little or too much care haha

Hopefully these brakes don't squeak once there bed-in! I know some performance brakes can squeal! Would annoy me hahah

Is it still fairly quiet at full volume?
Would you say it's a fairly good quality sound? :)

Sounds good, I one of those that will study the manual so I know every little bit about the car and systems haha! Dying to have read but will have to wait until I take delivery!

Do you know if you can turn the traction control off?

Yeah that sounds a good idea mate! I'm sure it will be a very popular thread!!

Brilliant Sporty Blue GT due Nov/Dec.

As for a run-in period. None.
I will take it easy until all fluids are up to temperature then after that I'll drive it however I want.

Apparently the fn2 used more oil if you nursed it from new .
the ones who drove it normal from new used less oil later in life

I know it just be tempting to take it easy but the engine will have already been run in before you get them.

It's not as though the demo cars are going bang

Added :)

I'm tempted to do the same, just something I think I would regret if I didn't (more in my head) hahah

Interesting :) wondered why that was?..

Yeah very true! The one I was driving had ~2500miles on it and all would have been harsh miles and probably not even warmed up for some of the thrashing!!

Just found this forum looks really active and informative

I have ordered one: pearl black with type R mats. Should arrive October. Will be my first Honda, I always wanted the original UK civic type R back in 2001 but I was only 18 yrs old and couldn't afford one. When I seen this was coming out I knew I'd order one! can't wait :)

Great choice. The black looks super aggressive in the flesh.
