I like what you've done with the bottom bracket for the oil cooler looks really neat.
Initially I was going to run them down the drivers side. But the fittings I got with the kit (Tegiwa) I wasn't happy how the pipes would route. It's tighter than you think trying to mount the thermostatic plate  The only worry I had going over the gearbox was I'd run out of hose but it was just right. There's a nice bit of wiring harness you can tie the pipes to so it's nice and neat with no chance of the pipes hitting any gear linkage. I used some old hose pipe here and there to prevent anything rubbing through.
I wasn't happy with just having the cooler hanging from the crash bar. It wasn't very secure and I thought it could rub on the AC rad and bumper eventually causing damage and possible an oil leak. Now it's totally solid and not touching anything else so hopefully should last.

Booked into TDI North the day before I go (30th April) for a retune. I've been thinking on what inlet set up to go for and I'm probably just going to stick with the RBC. The added price of 70mm throttle and/or Skunk2/RRC and the small gains I would get isn't justifiable. From research, bigger throttle body and either Skunk2/RRC are only worth it if you've got a fairly high spec build i.e cams, ported head, higher compression.
PRC inlet will be up for grabs soon

End of may the prices are looking to change not the start :bigthumb: I go on the 19th cant wait to see how your car performs mines near standard so will be a good benchmark for me to learn and progress it

Where you get that information. The standard ticket pricing is the same until the 30th of April.

Pads are here. Expensive at £180 but they've got some serious stopping power. Coupled with the Spoon calipers I should have no braking issues.
Image
I also changed the intake hose for a Tegiwa silicone hose. The standard one (annoyingly brand new a few months ago) didn't sit right with the RBC and was kinking. Routed the wiring around the back to make it look a little neater.

looks like your getting on well with the track build. Hope u dont mind iv a few questions for u, was the rack slider you fitted oem or aftermarket metal one and did it get rid of the knocking noise? im not sure if the metal is good idea as the oem may be softer so the other contact surfaces dont wear on the rack itself.
I also have the issue of not enough thread on the steering arms, do u reckon is it worth changing for the caster bushes or just change the arms? and did u make the arms up yourself or where did u get them from? also did u notice the buddyclub rca make much of an improvement?

I fitted a rack slider. It's improved it a lot but over rough ground you still do get the occasional noise, but I don't think running Coilovers helps as it's more stiff. I've seen the metal slider and I don't think you'll have any issue with it. If anything I'd imagine it will cause more noise.
Changing to castor increase bushes won't improve the issues with the lack of thread on the steering arms. The user JDP on here makes them and I believe he supplies Area Motorsport with them so get in contact with either of them. They'll well worth it if you want some decent camber. They'll need trimming on the end. I took off 10mm on mine.
I fitted the buddy club RCA's at the same time as the castor increase bushes so it's hard to tell how much of a difference they made as the castor increase changed the steering feel a little. I did notice it didn't roll as much and that's the idea behind them.

New brakes fitted and an oil change.
Using RBP discs and Carbotech XP8's as I did before as they worked awesome with standard calipers. Should be even better now with the Spoon calipers. Yellow stuff EBC pads on the rear as I get them cheap through Euro Car Parts. Tried the Millers Nanotech oil this time over the trusted Fuchs and changed from Hamp filter to a genuine Honda.
Just about managed to bed the brakes in. Carbotech say you warm up the pads and discs, then go hard on them near to the point of fade. Then stop and leave to cool. A little difficult to do on public roads but just about managed it. Bit unnerving with the RPB discs as they're coated with oil, obviously cleaned the oil off the braking surface but there'll be oil inside the vanes ect, when I pulled on the drive there was smoke bellowing from the front wheels
Few pictures, nothing interesting...

Winner!
Yep, Tegiwa thermal inlet gasket doesn't have the hole cut out for it. So I didn't really see the point in having it as it's not doing anything. I did try and save the valve but to do that you need to remove the rocker cover... So I just broke it :D Only £15 I think for the K Tuned delete kit and it makes the bay look a little more tidy. I just used an old bolt kicking about, quick lick of paint, to plug the hole in the intake pipe.

:WOOT what do i win?! Yeah they don't do anything. Makes the bay a bit less cluttered doesn't it  does the job mate :bigthumb: I had a custom intake done when I done mine so ive only one hole in the intake pipe for the air sensor

Lol. That picture don't do justice to the block off plug

I'm using the thread you plugged with a bolt for running the VDO water temperature, rather than cutting one of the radiador hoses to install it there as much people do.

You running gauges Lewis?

Is that the black plastic valve with the 3 pipes on and the top nipple snaps off ? I was a bit heavy handed and broke mine when fitting the rbc, ive glued it but it just keeps snapping. I didn't realise that you can delete it ! I need to get one of these kits ordered :-D

I'm not running gauges yet. It's handy that the plug has thread to put a sensor in but to be honest there's a water temp gauge in the dash so when I get round to fitting gauges it'll only be for oil temp and oil pressure.

Quick check over today as it's the last time I'll really be able to look at the car properly before I go. All good! Had 2 brand new Bridgestone RE050A's fitted last week. Double checked the geometry is all in spec.
Mapping Thursday at TDI North. Hopefully get some good figures. Ideally more mid-high end torque to help get up the big hills on the Nürburgring. Friday on route to Germany. Buzzing!

Back from TDI North... Well, I actually lost power
I'm down on peak figures by around 3bhp and 1lbft. Weather was cooler and damp last time before so maybe that's played effect? But consensus was the ITG is killing power the most. Which I kind of knew but didn't know it would be this dramatic. I did contemplate getting a different intake to make the most of it but thought the current set up would be fine. Obviously not!
I'm undecided what to do next. Injen 3inch intake and a retune is the easiest option. Supercharging but that's big bucks or just leave it as it is.
I've gained power in the midrange. Before vtec came in at 5k and now it's at 4k and the delivery is much smoother. Seems to feel more responsive and quicker on part throttle.
I'll get the graph up soon. I need a cuppa tea and some preparation for Germany trip tomorrow

Here's the fail dyno. Better mid range but that's it.

I'm going to either buy an injen cai or make one similar and get a velocity stack on the end of it. Get it back up to TDI North and hopefully get some half decent figures.
