You can be connected to your local LAN but if your WAN connection is dead you're going nowhere. This is exactly what you experienced in essence. An always on connection that just didn't timeout. Fact was though the main network was indeed down, and you couldn't do anything on it. Well useful you being logged on when you couldn't do anything.

Assetto Corsa will likely come to PS4 in the near future, Kunos received PS4dev kits earlier this year.

breaking news, AC is being ported to ps4. The dev kit has been delivered to Kunos
