I have NEVER EVER seen an EP3 with a K&N make that much power!

We have had probably just a handful in all the years hit the 250 mark with bolt-ons but this is a bit different.
The manifold pressure was actually really low. What you would see with a restrictive intake but it was making the power. Injector duty was in the 90's as well so it’s certainly making the numbers.

It’s been said what the ECU was previously mapped for decent mods and my expectation was that it would actually be running really rich. It wasn't. In-fact it was running very lean on high cam so straight away we knew there was something odd going on.

Easy change and one that happens quite often is camshafts being fitted but given the characteristics of the torque curve it pointed to them still being OEM EP3 ones but given the higher than normal torque on low cam (Would normally expect to see about 140ftlb on a tuned car) I wouldn't be surprised if displacement has been slightly increased if not compression at least.

Advice would be to fit a less restrictive intake and see what more we can get out of the setup. Be interesting to carry out a few checks as well. Cams, compression and bore scope. See exactly what we have here but its certainly making the power.

Breaks traction in 4th…… with a K&N!

The mystery does make me want to have more looked at I also find it quite funny it did well

We have had an FN2 in with only 18K miles in. Brought 3rd hand. Runs fine but just doesn't make the power. Done a compression test and its 140 on all 4. runs mint just lower power than anything else we ever seen. God knows whats happened to that!

I sold my own EP3 several years ago complete with Toda A3's in, valvesprings, Quaife, Tein suspension back to a dealers. You never know quite what your getting with a 2nd hand car. ;)

Well not posted for a long time due to the fact I'm happy where the car is at now & won't be spending anymore big money on it.

Hit a major milestone in the cars history today though had to share the moment

Hit the big 80000 miles mark now on the car think I've only done about 5000 of those miles in over 2 years

Just recently had some new ferodo ds2500 pads fitted in the front other th a that car running great still.

Not been on for a while mainly due to the fact that not doing any thing with the car now, however just had car in for mot and it passed fine apart from needing a couple new tyres, so I decided to replace all four.

I've gone for Uniroyal rainsport 2 215/45/17 xl arriving today so hope to be all fitted by end of day or Wednesday.

Probably going to need the arches rolling as I'm told rubbing will arise with my spring setup and the Evo wheels.

I do have a brand new never used uniroyal rainsport 2 in 205/45/17 for sale as I have gone up to 215 so no need for this and I never got round to fitting it to my spare Evo rim.

Will try get it up on the sale section soon wanting collection really and prob £10 less than what it costs new to buy.

So after been advised I needed a couole new tyres to pass the mot everything else was fine, going to service car in the new year as I haven't done a lot of miles and I regularly keep the oil topped up. I ended up buying four new Uniroyal rainsports 215/45/17 xl as I needed two tyres so decided to change all four and up the profile as this is something I planned on doing a while back.have to say they feel pretty good so pretty happy with the purchase.

Next will be rolling arches which I will do when I get back from my mates wedding in Vegas at the end of the month.

Sitting on the new tyres not best pics on my drive and Iphone which I later dropped and smashed screen, all fixed £35 lighter lol

Got to say love the new tyres just got to get arches rolled soon prob going to when I get back from Vegas as this and tyres hit the wallet this month hard.

Long term as said before my modding stages prob come to stop, I don't add many miles to car as you can see when I hit my 80000 mile mark in time I've owned car, and since then I actually only added about 1100 miles lol.

Anyhow I keep car well maintained and looked after oil levels topped up I dint service car on this MOT as really don't feel the need due to within year not a lot of miles added or harsh abuse. So I'm planning to save for a full service job of all fluids spark plugs and valve clearances start of next year all been well.

I like to keep the thread alive with some form of updates as I like to preserve my cars best I can and you can see what I've owned before.

Gutted few week ago I had two penny size dents put on my roof when some riddle tole cement off my house broke off in the bad weather landed on my roof, try put a pic up at some point.

Lovely cosmic mate, nice and subtle and well looked after! love the evo wheels they look right at home . Impressive power too. Very nice [smilie=karls_thumb.gif] does the gtechnique trim restorer work on the plastic triangular wing mirror trim? Ive tried countless products on them including autoglym black dye, and none will touch it!

Hi mate thanks for the comments.

The Gtechniq trim is really good on plastics like the area around the bottom of your widescreen. It's super effective on black plastic bumpers. I've not tried it on that area but if I'm honest it prob be worth a go.

Alright gents not much going on with my Type R these days due to me completing most things I wanted on the car in last couple of years.

I do however like to keep this thread up to date with something show I look after the car etc.

So weather nice today and my shoulders knocked so thought some cleaning may work out the strain lol

Not had chance to spend much time last couple months doing full cleans due to weather and other commitments (family)

Cars looking well apart from the two small penny size dents on my roof which I'm told I need to contact dent remover on here to sort them.

Also got bit of curbing on one of wheels as you will see, I kind of like to have the wheels painted this year but it's not a necessity so can wait, plus I've got 5 of em.

Engine bay could do with a bit of cleaning time but cars not a show mule it's functional so in all honesty it can wait.

I'm going to eventually chase down Solly on here to roll my arches just been so busy and a bit skint I've had to leave it, kids birthdays and Xmas hit the wallet hard.

So here she is washed and waxed pictures are a bit poo partly to blame for me been not great at pictures and using an iphone as my camera is turd.

I'm looking for a skunk gear knob I just can't bring myself to pay £60 for a knob lol
Also cars been well maintained with oil just not I've done 82300 miles on clock now that's 2300 miles since June I think when I posted the picture further up of the dials.

Cheers guys not the usual exciting mods and stuff but as I said like to keep this upto date and have what I do to the car daily on here for if I ever sell her on and show it's not neglected.
