Rubbish! I can only assume that you've never been out in an EP3 that's well setup.

Admittedly, I'm sure that comparing standard with standard the EP3 would get its pants pulled down.
This.

I only sold my r26 as they were depreciating to quick.
And my low mileage supercharged ep3 will not depreciate the way the meganesport has.
The r26 is superior In build quality inside out to a ep3 but it is a 07on car.

And on the road you can not get a ep3 to handle or be no way near as stable as a r26.
Maybe on track but not fast road use.

225 and r26 totally different car
Different brake master cylinder
Different front and rear arb
Different springs
Different shocks
Limited slip diff
They have been recalled since then anyway check on meganesport.net

Prob even more differences because there totally different to drive

At least the ep3 made it through all its journo tests

Not a great endorsement for a car especially when it breaks down on the test.

They all agreed the ep3 was best on track

This. Mod the bits you prefer on the Civic to be more like the Civic.

i wont say the interior of a ep3 is 'nice' but it's good enough as a driver car (needs lower seat rail), been out in a r26 and i just can't stand the interior, its sooooo grey and, well, poor imo. ep3 has a better layout

gearshift ep3 is much, much better too

overall the r26 might handle better than a ep3 out of the box but by no means you can't make the ep3 handles like a dream

these kind of car you can't get a compromise between 'good' handling and comfort, you get one or the other, which both cars fails on comfort out of the box anyway...just make it 'good' handling, don't bother making it feel more comfortable cause you can't.

get a set of good coilovers (KW, buddyclub n+ or bilsten shock & springs), uprate everything chassis wise, LSD as well, then you have a hardcore hatchback with the addictive k20 engine plus one of the best gearbox, oh, some good tyres too

OR

buy a dc2

Thanks for the comments guys.

I will just have to weigh up the pros and cons for both, one of the cons for the megane is the stupid price of the brakes which i've just had to shell out for.

I want an ep3 for more of a weekend toy plus it will be more reliable and parts are cheaper.

Like i said in the OP i would look for an already modded civic, so what mods would be best to look out for when buying one which "greatly improve" the civic's handling?

Cheers Lee :bigthumb:

Just stumbled across this thread and have to laugh, especially at the video link. For a start off a R26 megane is 100 times better than the run of the mill 225.
Ive had an R26 before i got my Ep3 type r(had to sell megane to release cash else would still have now)and it would absolutly run rings round an ep3 all day long anywhere be it track or b-road.In a different league all together and the next step up in terms of handling.
Build quality was very good and not like old Renaults from years ago and in terms of ride quality although my megane was a 57 plate it was a hell of a lot bettter than my 54 type r.
R26 is one of if not the best hot hatches ever made, you only need to read a proper drivers magazine like Evo to see for yourself.
An FN2 is more of a comparison than an EP3 imo,and a championship white would have no chance either.

Still love my type r though just still hankering after an R26
