Seems almost to good to be true that. Ppl I know with a full spoon system, gruppe m, oversized body and rbc matched with a k100 don't even get 250 so must be an epic map..... Got to be pleased.

Very pleased yes, Paul wondered if at some point the engine has had something done maybe on the head as it was performing well on the rollers.

I have NEVER EVER seen an EP3 with a K&N make that much power!

We have had probably just a handful in all the years hit the 250 mark with bolt-ons but this is a bit different.
The manifold pressure was actually really low. What you would see with a restrictive intake but it was making the power. Injector duty was in the 90's as well so it’s certainly making the numbers.

It’s been said what the ECU was previously mapped for decent mods and my expectation was that it would actually be running really rich. It wasn't. In-fact it was running very lean on high cam so straight away we knew there was something odd going on.

Easy change and one that happens quite often is camshafts being fitted but given the characteristics of the torque curve it pointed to them still being OEM EP3 ones but given the higher than normal torque on low cam (Would normally expect to see about 140ftlb on a tuned car) I wouldn't be surprised if displacement has been slightly increased if not compression at least.

Advice would be to fit a less restrictive intake and see what more we can get out of the setup. Be interesting to carry out a few checks as well. Cams, compression and bore scope. See exactly what we have here but its certainly making the power.

Even if he did get a gruppe m/tegiwa Induction kit etc, then is it really worth spending all that extra money on one of those + a re-tune, as well as fuel costs to Tdi and back.

He might make another 5 bhp if he's lucky...... Or he might not??

Me personally I'd just leave it as it is

Not going to be blowing £350 on one of those no point as said fuel costs a re map a d the teg intake it's just too much money.

I have argued a lot I feel intakes are a bit of an obsession on these forums, it's each to their own. I just can't see how you can spend all that money I know there is still some. Restriction with the typhoon but come on look at the difference in price I paid £60 I think for that thing. Heatsoak happens when your moving 250bhp last time I checked was no quicker when your car sat still.
