Credit card, and petrol or white spirits to remove any glue, then just polish, if it's red leave them on.

Used a hair dryer and held it over one end for a bit (not overly hot) then used a stanley blade scraper with the plastic guard left on to gently prise them off working my way along. (anything plastic with a knife edge should work). Rubbed the remaining sticky residue off with my fingers then used Maguires scratch X 2.0 to get rid the marks followed by a couple of passes with Maguires step 1. Whole car needs a good polish so didn't go any further. Not a single trace of badge left. [smilie=karls_thumb.gif]

This arrived in the morning:

..which resulted in this:

Bye bye EML, hello VTEC! :-D It'll do till i sort out an ecu.

Also went into town to eventually pick up the Gruppe-M. Went round to the house i'm away to move into to see how the painter was getting on, drop off the OZ's/888's and fit the GM. It's the other side of town from where i am at the moment so thought a good blast back out the road would be good for checking for rattles. Just as well because by the time i got home (via the Honda dealer for the scuttle rubber, £16.50+VAT, robbing b@stards!) it was doing my head in. So back out it came for some fine tuning....

Image

Image

Whilst i was at it i gave the filter a bath as i don't plan on taking it back out for a while!

Before:

Image

After:

Image

And finally the whole lot put back together spick and span ready for a quick blast after tea: (cheers to Tegiwa for the new rubber trim & fasteners, and Lambda spacer for that matter)

Got to be honest, the FEEL's does drone a bit at low rev's, or maybe just me getting older.... Seems to be a sweet spot just after 3k then again after 4k. Although by the time it's gone past 4k it just totally changes and sounds the dogs balldocks. Just wish it didn't drone at cruising speed, especially about town. Might be down to the manifold or maybe just the drainpipe on the end of it. Contemplating changing to Toda but need to get a dB meter on it 1st.

Had planned on doing the suspension/box this week but parts have been delayed. Diff's still in Japan, suspension parts might be out by the end of the week and i'm away on Monday for 2 weeks with work. Think i'll go see if i can borrow the arch roller and get them done out of the way. At least it's something! And sort out the mirrors!

Took advantage of the fine weather yesterday and spent 5 hours cleaning, removing marks, buffing scratches and polishing/waxing....all by hand. Swore next time i'd buy a machine! Still some marks on it but for a 51 plate it's not too shabby!

Managed to sort out my wing mirrors. Went from this...

...to this...

Wasn't a simple swap as the new mirrors must have been from a 5 door. Got them cheapish but when i found out they were wrong i got in touch with the seller and ended up with a full refund and got to keep them. Looked about for another set then thought sod it, i'll bastardise these. Just stripped the housing off the mount, took the connector block off then put it all back together. Job well done and miles better than the old ones! :cooldude:

Sorted out the GM so it sits straight. Also gave the filter another wash with K&N cleaner and re-oiled with some new clips/rubber trim for the cowl. Not keen on the breather hose sitting on top of the GM so need to sort that out at some point.

Also borrowed a shot of an arch roller for doing the rear arches. Was going to do it today but its been pissing down all day so thats tomorrows job.

Finally have a new ecu on the way so that'll be booked in for mapping next time i'm back onshore. Only down side is it's going to cost me a new alarm/immobiliser. Don't know where the siren's going to go as there ain't exactly much room in the bay for one!

And ordered a dB meter from Maplins to check how loud the exhaust setup is. Strictly speaking it'll need to be 96dB at 2m, 2/3 rpm.

The tone of the exhaust will also change once mapped, it might not be as "droney" as the AFR will be at better ratio.

I'll be very surprised if it's over 96db mate, it sounds louder in the car than it is outside.

For the breather hose, undo the bracket so you can lift the box up, feed it underneath the box and upto the rocker cover then clamp the bracket down making sure the pipe doesn't crimp when you put the box back in. I ran mine underneath when I had mine :bigthumb:

Arch rolling day!

Tools for the job...

Image

Started off by giving the inside of the arches a good scrub. Amazing how much sh*t comes out of there!

1st corner to be done and thought i'd see what the new boots looked like.....

:cooldude:

Rear setup as it stands, all change in a couple of weeks when i'm back home!

Image

Image

Image

Rear arms will defo be getting a blast and recoated, looking pretty shabby at the moment! I'll also be sorting out the arb as i'm not convinced with the way its fixed at the moment,

Std lip on the rears...

After rolling...

Ended up taking longer than expected as the roller wasn't exactly a great fit for the civic hubs/arches. Could have done with dropping the arms a bit lower. Did most with the roller then used a nice big hammer to finish it off. Made a decent job of it and no sign of cracked paint! Top tip, don't put your hand over the heat gun to see how hot it is! When i strip the suspension i'll give the arches a proper clean, throw some under seal on and Mastic the rolled lips.

Also took a vid of the engine. Maybe me but i reckon it's sounding like a tractor a bit too much.....

All work done for this time home. Fintry Hill Climb's on this weekend so fingers crossed its sunny tomorrow as i don't fancy eating a burger in the rain. Hopefully be some nice machinery there!

Time for a small update as parts are slowly starting to arrive! :WOOT

Spent yesterday stripping the intake/inlet/slam panel for fitting a newly acquired Buddy Club RBC & 70mm T.B. Taking the manifold off is a PITA when the slam panel's still on! Defo going to be the last part to go back on!

Also took the opportunity to set the valve clearances. Half were already fine, other half were out a bit but still within spec so took them all down to 0.08 on the intake and 0.10 on the exhaust. Piss easy job, can't believe the price some garages are charging for this going by others posts! Really is a simple DIY job.

Also made a slight change to the mounting hardware for the rocker cover.....

Oh, and this bit of porn just turned up......

Spec-X running slightly different settings from the std super lock. (3/50 - 336 - 6 - 6S)

Sat twiddling my thumbs again waiting on a T.B gasket and new inj's to arrive so i can put it all back together!
