I'm gutted to say the least

I didn't spin up anymore than I have before so I don't have a clue what's gone on.

Good thing to come out of it is final drive time
Can you select 1st via the arm on the gearbox rather than using the gearnob?

I had this once in a golf where there was a small bit of plastic missing from the linkage
How do you do that bud Iv only tried via gear knob?

I had a look over linkage and everything looked normal

You sure it's not a clutch issue?

I hope it's a cheap ish fix whatever it turns out to be for you........ Final drive mods are becoming popular on here now if you end up doing that lol :-)

Come over one night next week to collect those gear stacks hopefully it will be something and nothing, I just find it really weird how you couldn't grab 2nd and now its 1st playing up but who knows until its stripped and your looking at it.

:salut: for upgrading your FD its a must for any NA civic [smilie=karls_thumb.gif]

i dont think so bud car drives perfectly except no 1st gear plus its only just over a year old exedy stage 1 its done 3 trackdays and 6 runs at santa pod so should have plenty of life in it plus only done 7k miles

ye i was hoping its going to be cheap but with my eyes set on a final drive.

i cant decide between a 5.8 with a accord type s 6th , just a 5.8 or 5.46 just doing some calculations on mfactory website ill post the screen shot up in a sec

iv been doing some calculations on the mfactory website to see how the car is going to perform on the final drive

i really dont know what to do, i dont want the car to be really bad on the motorway but i want the performance

are those calculations pretty accurate bud? how do you find shifting with the 5.8 are you constantly shifting or is not as bad as the calculations make it look?

ye im just about to text you now.

Bower wrote:I don't entirely believe the calculator mate, I'm not constantly shifting either but my rev limit is 9k. You will top out around 140 with a 5.8 so it isn't too bad IMO.

9k you say ? Agree with with the Yorkshire bummer says though - The gear calculators are more just for a rough idea. They don't equate to real life in gear speeds from my experience

Right Iv decided on a 5.46 final drive think it will work best for the way I use the car.

I think I 5.8 would be to hardcore for me if it was an out an out track car then id do that in a flash along with a plated diff but I'm happy with my mfactory for now

Hopefully if all goes to plan should be sorted by next week but I'm not holding my breath

Hey dude,

I'm still waiting on my spoon 5.1FD, I use my car as a quick road car so motorway cruising rpm in 6th was the deciding factor for me.

I posted this on a previous FD thread so sorry to all those who have seen it b4:

220 bhp ctr with a 5.1:

You can see his gears are noticeably shorter than oem, just short of 100 mph at the top end of 4th.

Here is the 5.46 in a car with a stock engine:

IMO too short for the road, 1st and 2nd seem not to work without a LSD, and 67 mph at the top of third is a bit short. Depends what you are going to use that car for though.

There is a pretty sweet vid of bower's NA EP3 chasing bren's JRSC civic round cadwell with what i think is a 5.8 FD. Short gears on an NA car really work well on the track :-D
