A mate of mine (motoring lawyer) gave a forum member on here legal advice for going faster than 52mph in a 30mph zone and he received 6 points. His initial consultation is free so makes sense to seek legal advice.

Were you actually on that road at the time/date they suggest? If not then you have an alibi and you could suggest your plate may have been cloned, follow up with some stats on cloned plates. Case closed! :-D

A mate of mine had a set of plates nicked from his car a few years back, he got about twelve tickets through in the same week a couple of weeks later.

I got caught years ago doing 76 in a duel carrageway temporary 40, went to court, waited 4 hours, got a 7 day ban and £100 fine, not to bad hey. Think again, its cost me over 3k in additional insurance premiums.

Never took the pi$$ again!

The laws in this country are rubbish, punishments dont reflect the crime. Have a road like you describe near me and at night when empty with clear view of ahead 52 would not be an unsafe speed and definately not deserve a ban. I mean if you were driving past the school at leaving time on your phone then that should be a ban but would get you just 3 points. Hope you do ok mate, just offer to pay a bigger fine as money appears to be the reason for most cameras i see lately.

52 in a 30 is an unsafe speed limit regardless of the time.. Do you think built up areas are 30mph from pot luck or something?

Where is the justice for the people!?
Were you speeding perhaps not exactly 52mph but well above it otherwise you wouldn't have signed the slip would you... You can argue about 1mph or 2, but even 10mph still puts you 33% over the speed limit.
Don't f**king whinge if you go about your day speeding and end up getting caught.

True but you're splitting hairs. Other than the few roads you might name me that fall outside this rule the vast majority of 30mph zones happen to be going through a residential or built up area.

i had 89 in a 50 a few weeks back,

i attended court (paid the extra)

and got 5 points +£80 costs

go in with some a load of wotsit story about youll lose your job and make out it will affect others which would be unfair like you take an elderly person shopping every week or something.

look sad
