Hi Tim!!

Ordered 6litres of Fuchs pro S 5w40 in January - used 5 litres for an oil change at the start of Feb. Have had to top up the remaining 1ltr since then. Never had to top up as much in the past using other manufacturers 10w40 and also 0w40. (Max 0.5ltrs between 12k miles service intervals) Note: Driving style hasn't changed - VTEC once per day MAX - CTR is looked after!

Just took advantage of your 2x5l offer of Fuchs Pro S 5w40. However thinking about it would I be better amending order to 10w40 to help reduce oil consumption?

Thanks,
Callum

Hi Tim, after some advice please mate. I'm due an oil change soon and have been using Rock Oil 10w40 Semi Syn. motorcycle oil in the past for my 2003 EP3 CTR. Am I ok to carry on using this or would you recommend something different? Cheers, Pixie. :salut:

Hi Pixie

Despite what some people say, Rock oil is pretty basic stuff, I wouldn't use it.

I would use a 5w-40 synthetic and you will find those through the link below.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XFS, Fuchs Supersyn, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

Cheers

Not a fan of comma oils, if you want the best, take a look at these ones.

You need an MTF for the gearbox and I would go with the Redline MTL, Amsoil MTF or Fuchs Sintofluid. The Millers EP 75w-80 is a good cheaper alternative, although I wouldn't use that if the car gets hard use.

Just have to agree to disagree on that one, I am assuming you mean better/higher quality oils being available other than what Comma have to offer?

I do agree it is all becoming about the enviroment, hense low saps oils and biodegradable oils. Fortunatly at the moment we can still manufacture and purchase group IV oils that will never meets the latest "enviro" specs, no doubt that will end one day as well.

Just have to say, recently I topped up the oil in my car with the Fuchs Pro S, after using basic Castrol for a bit

...and WOW. I never expected the oil to make such a difference to the performance of a car! I assumed the difference would be too small to notice (only "noticed" by OCD top product heroes), and only affect the running of your car in the long run. It runs as if the roads are made of butter, no sluggishness at all, smooth acc at all speeds.

Thanks to the oilman for this thread.
