Forum rules:
Please keep personal insults to yourselves.
Opinions and discussion are welcomed but the name calling and petty retorts are now becoming tiresome and getting in the way of what would otherwise be a great section with a lot of useful information.
Personally insulting posts and those serving little purpose except to incite argument will be removed and authors warned. FYI, we operate a multiple warning and automatic ban system.

yes you are right, but i don't know if it worths to change all of them since everybody (almost) who had this issue fix it with the input bearings
I'll ask for a price at Honda and if it is not that much maybe i'll go for it otherwise i prefer to spend the money on other stuff since i started to get used to the sound and it's not getting worse :D

what the mechanic said? anything bad could have happend if you didn't change them?

It may be a niggling sound but if your anything like me I want things to be bob on!! :bigthumb:

I can't see why your all worrying over the gearbox noise? Pretty much all of CTR's I have been in do this when rolling off throttle in gear including mine and the other one that I had. I personally believe that some if not all of that noise you hear is just the small amount of play between the gear's meshing as you roll off the throttle; as soon as you give it some gas the gears have constant pressure on them thus taking up the play and stopping the noise. Thats my idea anyway. The fact that the lad a few posts up has had all his bearings replaced and still has the noise confirms this for me

These cars do make the odd strange noise here and there is what I have come to learn, as long as everything functions as it should and all the gears engage smoothly without crunching then I wouldn't give it a second thought. Just enjoy the car and worry about fixing things when they actually break.

Hope this helps.

One frend had the same sound as mine and the gearbox is broke, because I fear that does not happen to me also..the sound is not normal and need to find the cause, also my friend has a 2002 Ctr with 150.000km and no sound...

Fair enough just telling you my point of view from experience. My car makes this same noise and has done since I brought it nearly 2 years ago. I have done track days and drag days and TBH haven't shown any mercy on the gearbox during these times. The box hasn't missed a beat.

Lastly my box was in pieces only 6 weeks ago at TDi North and they found nothing that was in need of replacing when it was on the bench, and when it was re-assembled it still made the same noise as before it was dis-assembled.

Up to you mate, but you might end up throwing more money at this noise only to find out it just comes back again very shortly afterwards. I understand your concern as your friend had a gearbox go down on him, but I would think he is a minority as there are plenty of others on here with the same noise that have encountered no problems, plus there is no proof that the noise was the reason for the gearbox failure (Or was there :P )

Let us know how you get on either way bud

Have you changed all bearings in transmision?

No; what I was saying was that the box was in bits having a diff and clutch fitted, and all the bearings were checked and found to be fine. The car did have a new set of diff bearings on the LSD and also a new clutch release bearing fitted though.

Mine also does this. The car has 43k miles and has made the noise from around 25k.

So its nothing to worry about then?
