Im currently posting from my mates Desire, this phone is seriously growing on me, there are some seriously good apps on this platform

I had a 5 min play whilst in the 3 store today, this phone is definatly pulling me away from my iphone no questions asked

I bet its a fair few, No pictures can show the quailty of the screen and smoothness of the operation, feed up of waiting for my iphone to open sms's etc..

I'm considering getting this phone. Can anybody quickly tell me if it's very responsive? I hate touchscreen stuff that lags, so I'd need it to respond instantly and accurately or it would just annoy me.

Had mine since release day on t-mobile which is just over a month now and it has a fair bit of shite on here coupled with some music and photos. Still runs like new.
Just keeps going... got some photos from the touring cars I will upload later to see how the camera coped with moving targets... looks good so far but I have only seen the version on the phone.

I've got loads of apps etc on it and its fully loaded up with contacts and notes and its still the same speed as vanilla.

The TTS works surprisingly well. When I saw it on the Gadgetshow I thought it might be a bit of a gimmick but it really does work.

The deals I expect will be exactly the same as all other networks mate and they are supposed to in with O2 by the middle of this month. I highly doubt it will come out of the O2 factory with the ROM intact, and I'm guessing it will have custom apps installed and functionality removed.

I've just realised you are talking about voice to text not text to voice right?

OK right. TTS is supported, STT is not (officially) as the Desire doesn't have the Nexus noise cancellation technology. However you can install it quite easily.

Some say mid-may some are saying early next week. From what I can gather though, stock levels are very low at the moment, unless o2 how brought them all ready for dispatch

The usability was good when I was on it Sunday night, I'm not a huge huge fan of touch screen phones as I prefer actual buttons when I'm writing a text (I'm forever hitting the wrong letters) but when the phone was landscape actually managed to write without too many mishaps. Although I'm due my upgrade now I'll still hold fire for a couple of months and directly compare this to the 4G iPhone.

Out of interest does anybody have the following apps:

Layar/Layor (don't know how it's spelt)
Google Sky Map (I think that is what it's called)
Googles/Goggles (when you take a picture of something with your Desire, it scans the photo and then does a search on Google once it has analysed what it is and BAM you have a search)

The above names might be a bit wonky but they were 3 seriously cool apps
