I had thought for a second there, you were going to be picking one of these replica carbon fibre dustbin lids.. Seeing as they were not going to ask for the left leg of your first born in payment.

Silly me.

If I drive through a big amount of water (flooded road maybe etc) and a big sheet of water came up the bonnet, would it get sucked in by the scuttle panel entrance to the air filter.

I imagine a good amount of water would be able to cause hydrolock in this situation with the entering water having the inertia of gravity (coming in down from the intake scoop) and the suction of the filter itself... :vconf:

Not really no, the bottom of the kit on the GM and this copy are very deep and could hold a good bit of water without touching the filter, also there is a hole in the bottom of the Gruppe M which allows any water to run out nice and quickly. The situation you gave is a bit mad  you'd be seriously unlucky/silly if that happened. The chances of getting hydro lock with a GM are EXTREMELY samll bully  You used to small things I hear

also in that situation your OEM inlet would have flooded your intake box and the engine so by that logic the GM and this system gives your 30 seconds longer to live

These do look identical. Top of the GM unit has a rubber strip around it and this does take some abuse with vibrating against scuttle and the bonnet. The Tegiwa doesn't have this in that picture so the actual CF of the unit itself might get badly scraped and marked.

Only thing I can see as a minor problem.

The guy from Xposed sells these, purchased direct from GruppeM and they are cut to fit, so if you were concerned it would be a cheap addition to this kit and a quick fix.

just be aware that those trolls that spent their life savings on a GM are are currently living in a ditch somewhere will come and debunk any results that you get....

Remember the Venom thread guys

Excuse 1 - the rolling road was not calibrated
Excuse 2 - the tech didn't know what he was doing
Excuse 3 - it is not expensive enough to get results likes that
Excuse 4 - I am so annoyed that I spent so much on an over priced carbon fibre dustbin that I will do anything to make sure no one realises it

TBH I would buy one asap because as soon as GM sue them for infringment of copyright for the design they will either come off the marked and be burnt in the carpark or go up in price to cover the royalties

+1

And if it is a 'copy' of the GM then differences in performance will be minimal.
We're only talking about a couple of horsepower and a weeny bit more torque in the mids anyway.

the gruppeM rubber strip around the top is useless anyway

got some stuff off ebay to replace mine (recommended by murph! not my own idea may i add), like metal edging trim. works a treat. looks like is belongs on the gruppeM and best of all as hardwearing as anything so will never need be replaced. (oh that was a little lie best of all i payed a few quid for meters of the stuff! )
