cleanyourcar.com is an excellent site. Delivery is super fast as well. :salut:

It's better in the summer as they stay clean for ages, but I still have to do it during these crappy months as I hate seeing my coilies covered in muck, once all that grit and grime sets in you wouldn't be able to adjust them properly if you wanted to. But like I said if you dress everything properly the dirt comes off real easy the next time... :-D

+1

Cleanyourcar, have used them twice now. Order is always dispatched same day even if you order at like 3pm! Always get a wee thank you note in with my stuff as well and it's been packaged well the twice I used them. Can't fault them at all.

Hopefully they are cheap enough postage to NI for Bluntcap, because they seriously are a great site to use.

Right N&N, I'm ready to go tomorrow! I've my Megs APC, Bare Bones, Jack, Axle stands and all else that cleans.

n00b cleaning qwestionz  -

1- How do I dress the arches with the bare bones stuff? Apply with a brush or spray?
2- I have a couple of rust spots on the back wheel arches due to a lack lustre arch rolling job/lots of wet mud from the previous owners. I have bought some waxoyl just to seal the roll in the arches once clean. Does the bare bones have any rust prvention qualities like waxoyl or is the waxoyl better to use for this?
3- Is there anything I should avoid when blasting the WD40 on my OEM suspension?

I'll post some pics up when I'm done, you'l probably sh-t the bed when you see my before pictures

With a spray mate, it doesn't matter if they are still wet either, just spray it on.

Waxoyl is better, bare bones is just a dressing, maybe brush some waxoyl on to the areas you want it and then let it dry before spraying anything on top.

Just the discs mate, everything else is fair game.. :-D

Well.... that didn't go quite as planned.
I don't think the arches have EVER been cleaned. Dispicable.
I spent 3 hours scrubbing and hosing on the back arches. Trying to clean out where thy had been rolled was incredibly tricky.
Here is where I got so far. Still need more scrubbing and then dressing with Bare Bones but i got most of it off and then coated the suspension with WD40 just to repel the drenching that they got today. Round 2 tomorrow evening.

trailing arm, caliper, hub and camber arm wants a lick of paint... :-D

It's a different ball game if they have never been cleaned before.

Thats a good effort though dude, each time you do it now it gets better and better. Slap a bit of paint on something the next time, or spend a few minutes cleaning the silencers etc.

I just did mine again this weekend, rears on saturday and fronts on sunday, altogether it probably took less than 2 hrs to do all four.

After reading this I feel inspired. Now have a day reserved over easter to do my arches and some shopping to do in the meantime. Damn this cleaning obsession :bad-words:

Cheers for the advice! What shall I use for the trailing/camber arms and hubs? hammerite?

I have some caliper paint but that's a job I'm going to leave for hotter weather. They'll ages to dry in this cold!

The rust on my arches is worse than I thought too :bigcry: that was a nasty surprise. It's going to have to go to a bodyshop pretty damn soon

It's good for you...and it makes working on the car sooo much easier when everything is clean and un-corroded.

Just some hammerite mate, satin or matt, either is good. I think my trailing arms etc are painted with satin black. I just noticed at the weekend there are a few little areas that need touching up on mine, earmarked for another time. :salut:

Hi N&N, I had round 2 with my rear arches yesterday and made a bit more progress.
I'm wondering now whether the black stuff you see in my 'after ' picture, posted above, is waxoyl?
It seems harder to get off than dirt anyway!

Do you think I'd be better off scrubbing it all off and just using Bare Bones or just re applying waxoyl?
I'll waxoyl the lip of the arches due to the rolled metal.
#2468418
I'd be tempted just to go over the silver bits with some satin black hammerite mate, then when you dress the arch after cleaning it will look more uniform. I pretty much just touch up any dodgy looking bits with that stuff and it lasts for ages. I've painted the hubs, the trailing arms, lca's and calipers.
