With your white wheels a "wheels off" clean is essential now and again dude. Takes a couple of hours with wheels included. You need to keep on top of your coilies dude...keep them clean and protected and they will last a long time. You only have to "check" the collars are tight, you don't need to adjust anything...simplez.

Ok this is in my head now  going try and get the stuff over the next week or so, I can get in at my wheels pretty well tbh, but a wheel off job would be a good idea after all the salt on the road. What about the back mate? Is the jacking and axle points obvious?

Newi and his clean arches

Looking good as always, coilys look mint!!

Need to do mine abit more often now removing the carpet in the arches

The back is a little more involved tbh, I didn't take any piccies today but here is a few old pictures of how I get the rear up on stands. I jack the car up on the rear bottom arms so that I can get the axle stand under the proper jacking point.

The rear tow eye thingy is a jacking point also, but I don't recomend using that, it's a bit sketchy.

If you are unsure, just use the jack on the rear jacking points and leave it up on that while you do one arch at a time.

going to buy a dremel and some attachments for the drill to buzz the surface rust away...

anyone recomend any paints / sealants to use once the metal is sanded down???

mat.
just some "hammerite smooth - satin black" mate. Couple of coats will do it.
coolio...

i don't know how rusty it is in behind the bumpers and the plastics, but i've suddenly got all worried about it since i saw the state of my sisters sills on her xr!!

i get the feeling it's a job that is going to take me all day once i've taken the car to bits! - but i'll be dead pleased knowing it's all done once it is!!

are the fittings/fixings on the hel lines stainless?

bluntie, the wheels have to come off to clean them properly unfortunately!! and while they are off, may as well get the arches spick and span!!

Andy, those coilovers look brand new mate, a real credit to your detailing (/ocd) ability!! seen coilovers half that age that are already corroded!!

Mine wasn't bad at all, this was about 80k+. A tiny bit of touching up with some satinblack hammerite, and a few good coats of shiny shiny...and alls good.

Under the front bumper it was mint, no rust or corrosion at all..!

Can't think how this could be a bit sketchy, this is how Honda recommend/designed to lift! Not like there is a lot of weight on the back of a civic.

I like to give my arches a bit of a snow foam before getting the brush to them, helps to lift most of the heavy soiled dirt.

i think he means due to the shape of the towing eye / shape of the platform on the jack, doesn't look like it would provide a stable lift... i assume that's what he means.

i debated it when my hoses were fitted, but it did look a bit sketchy!!

nice to know it can be used though, i didn't realise it was an actual jacking point!!

Thanks for this write-up, i will get round to doing this once i get the chance.

Quick question - where do you get most of your cleaning products? I notice Halfords sell a range of Meguires kit but they don't seem fairly priced to say the least. Is there a good mail order website?

Cheers

Awesome :salut:

NN has inspired me to do this at the weekend. My excuse is that car is too low for a jack but your block of wood technique has now ruined that excuse.

Need to paint my hubs with the slver Hammerite I bought months ago. Might take pics for this thread and show off my Do-Luck hoses, pure non stealth bright purpleness ftw.
