Hi All,

I’m Gordon Van Dyke and I’m the Associate Producer for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 here at EA’s DICE studio in Stockholm.

Today we’re excited to announce that our forthcoming multiplayer beta is coming exclusively to PS3, so you’ll have a chance to experience all the action, destruction and vehicular warfare ahead of our full release in March 2010.

Battlefield Bad Company 2

Starting on November 19, the beta will feature the huge ‘Arica Harbour’ map where up to 24 players compete to secure valuable crates in the ‘Rush’ game mode as the action moves across a variety of different locations. From an initial vehicle assault on a military outpost the war winds through streets of a deserted town to an intense final fire-fight in an industrial harbour.

Check out our announcement video here.

Getting access to the beta will differ from country to country, but here are a few specific ways of getting hold of a key:

* We’ll be holding a special limited giveaway right here on the PlayStation Blog (details TBA)
* Pre-ordering the game at participating retailer
* Checking out selected gaming sites such as IGN or GameSpot in North America.

That’s it for now…although if you have any questions then let me know. Be sure to check back here tomorrow when we have a brand Battlefield: Bad Company 2 new trailer.

HDlink: BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY 2 MULTIPLAYER BETA FOR PLAYSTATION®3 (HD)

BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY 2 MULTIPLAYER BETA FOR PLAYSTATION®3 SYSTEM LAUNCHES NOVEMBER 19
Experience All-Out Modern Warfare Open to All Players with DEMO in Early 2010
Stockholm, Sweden – November 5, 2009 – DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio (NASDAQ: ERTS), today announced the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company™ 2 multiplayer beta exclusively on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Starting November 19, PlayStation 3 gamers will be able to experience the unprecedented action, destruction, vehicular warfare, squad play and open sandbox environments that only Battlefield can deliver. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 provides a true all-out war experience like no other modern warfare game. For beta key distribution details go to www.battlefield.com.

“This is an outstanding opportunity for PlayStation gamers to get early access to one of the most action-packed and polished shooters in the marketplace with Battlefield: Bad Company 2,” says Rob Dyer, SVP, Publisher Relations, SCEA. “We’re happy to help DICE achieve their superior level of multiplayer excellence in the game.”

“With Battlefield: Bad Company 2 we’re looking to raise the bar across all aspects of our multiplayer experience, setting a new standard for online play,” says Patrick Bach, Senior Producer on Battlefield: Bad Company 2. “From the graphics to the vehicles, weapons and destruction, we are delivering the best online multiplayer game next year, and we want gamers to experience it themselves by playing the beta and demo.”

The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer beta will feature the Arica Harbor map, where up to 24 players can compete in one of the game’s four intense multiplayer modes called Rush. This new map displays a superb balance of vehicle and infantry combat, as the American assault unit attacks the Russian army base with full force, advancing further through a beautiful desert town and towards the industrial area in a desperate attempt to overtake the Arica Harbor. Heavy vehicle warfare on the first bases gradually turns into an intense infantry fight as the level progresses, showcasing this best-in-class online war experience.

In December 2009, DICE will invite players to participate in a PC open beta. Then, early next year, all players worldwide will get to experience this premier shooter when DICE releases a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer DEMO on the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be in stores on March 2, 2010 in North America and March 5, 2010 in Europe for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC. The Limited Edition is available now for pre-order at participating retailers worldwide (while supplies last).

Can't wait for this game! I didn't buy the first one at launch  , I picked it up for £15 quite a while after release, but I will definitely be buying the sequel on release day.

Hopefully by then cross game chat will be available and we'll be able to get some co-op based battles organised! That would be all kinds of awesomeness :cooldude:

Most recent official multiplayer footage, from the 360:

Every bit as visceral as COD4 but with the benefit of not playing like Doom and actually having tactics and variety

If I have a criticism, it's that the language seems rather stupidly OTT. Won't be playing this around the kids!

You can jump in a tank, or a chopper, or a jeep, or an ATV, or a skidoo, or a boat, or a.....er.....golf cart  Who cares about customisable weapons when it's so damned varied. COD needs all those extras because, ultimately, your stuck in a small map with too many other people and not much else to do. I really don't understand why the CODs even have snipers. So few maps give them any form of range.

That is a shame, I will 100% get this game and I am sure it will be great but only 24 players is a shame. One of the reasons I loved BF2 and 2142 was that you could have 64 player games, which just made it feel like a war. You had vehichles and infantry which made it so varied and you always had a fight going on somewhere, Resistance 2 showed 64 players is possible and lag free on the PS3 (at least, I am sure 360 could too). MAG has 256 player. However I am sure with the new version of gold rush it will make the game still feel hetic, but it won't be the same as what made the series so popular on the PC, bring on BF 3
