Yeah I have been tempted. I've owned a 996 911 Turbo which isn't exactly exotic but is a step up from the GTR out of the box as far as brakes, handling and power goes.
I've got friends with exotics, but to be honest, most F430's, Gallardos, DB9's........ they're all the same....... pretty much stock as they lose too much value if you screw with them and I like to make something my own so these are ideal cars for me.
I've been a huge Ferrari fan since I was a kid and have Ferrari everything, had 6 Ferrari's as wedding cars but find it hard to justify owning one when I can have all the cars I've already got instead....... so much more fun and so much more dedicated to each purpose. Yeah it's less flash, but in some respects people react better to these cars than something exotic anyhow since the GTR is almost seen as a working mans supercar from some people.
I was tempted to upgrade recently when I had an R35 GTR for a couple of days............... Jeeeeeeeesus what a weapon that thing is....... that gearbox is what makes it, but man what a car ! Sooooo much potential, but it was a different type of car to the R34 and so I didn't want to lose what I had in the R34 and didn't want to buy 2 GTR's as I couldn't justify having 2 and wanted to spend any spare money I had on the NSX racecar project.
To be honest, the best pure drivers car I've ever driven is a 996 911 Carrera 2 S with their sport pack.......... as a road car for long hauls or cross country b road blats...............simply awesome ! Yeah there's other cars with more grunt and no doubt outright faster, but this thing was soooo balanced and the sound........ MMMMmmmm mmmmmmm
Sorry for the long blurb.........as you can no doubt tell I'm a bit of a car nut
