BEWARE CW FN2 OWNERS YOUR TIME IS COMING
Matt, when you say its infected.......where? Do you mean rust was present?

EvoStu.
yep on top of the door, under the sill, very top corner, you have a black bit folded over the rust mark was just after it finished!

didn't have a long look but it was there, only on the passenger door
Well this is mine taken 5 minutes ago.

The dealer didn't have a problem with sorting it out, but in my opionion it would be better to prevent it than to have to sort it out later,

hopefully in a weeks time i too will be a proud owner of a CW FN2 if we can sort a deal out (minus rust!)

Mate, not being funny, there's nothing to sort out on mine.
Josh's looks identical to mine as well so I'm not sure what can be done. There is a layer of wax on the metal as well.

yes a know yours and josh's are not infected you have said it 2/3 times, i'm not say yours are or will be! But the one at the garage that i test drove for 30 mins WAS! it was a 58 plate had done 2,800mls ex demo and it had rust, I wish i had covered it in what ever rust prevention stuff is out there, so you don't have to keep checking it! all i'm say is it can still happen so be aware.

i'm getting mine sort, so end of!

Explain sorted though Matt, at the end of the day if you cover it in anti rust treatment Honda can and almost certainly will nullify your warranty on any part you have modified.
If it rusts, so be it, it is Hondas duty to fix it, thats what the warranty is there for.

i've asked for the area to be treated not the whole door spray, they will clean the area up, spray it then a place rubber piece over the the edge of the door, so the paint will not be visable, not 100% sure but i believe they put it on then heat it to stick it on  or it already sticky

i will check when i go back this week but sure honda wouldn't have a problem if your trying to protect your car

you could always try putting a bit of tape over it!

if the dealer lets me a will try and take a picture of the CW door when i go back

Trust me mate, they will. Look at the folks who have have had alloys repaired for kerbing on EP3's, then the spokes have bubbled up due to lacquer issues and Honda have rejected the claim due to the fact the user has had the wheel repaired before.
All manufacturers are the same, they will always try to find some way of getting out of authorising a claim.

the black plastic bit is just the soft rubber bit, squishes when you close the door

Yep I have early stages of infection, not as bad as in the pics, but definatley not right, mightly p'd off.

Pulled back the seal and cant get the bl**dy thing back on properly now also, grrrrrrrrrrrrr  :vconf:

Had an Alfa GTV before my CTR, people used to go on about the build quality, didnt expect to see this on a 07 plate garaged Honda

Down the dealers for this one me thinks

The manager at my local dealer came round Friday the 25th and was amazed to see that the RUST was back for the SECOND time. He took some pic's and off he went. I called him today to see what the next step is, And he said well ive put in another Warrenty Claim for 2 new Doors, AGAIN. IM not impressed to say the least :bad-words: And i must take this further than just my Local Dealer.

I really dont want a car that RUSTS every 6 months.

If you read this page the the last, its what i have been trying to say, althought its not our responsibility why not try to prevent it with say grease, tape, rust prevention due to the hassle. the garage whos sorting mine out it putting sticky plastic over the area after being treated. i didn't want new doors or complete door respray due to colour matching.

The match to be fair was pretty good as they painted every pannel apart from the Bumpers and rear tailgate, They told me they had to replace the Doors as the Rust went right down the Frame of the Door, I went to see it while it was in there Bodyshop, and with the Black Plastic trim removed you could see the RUST bubbling right down the Frames.
