Warranty will be gone on anything governed by the ecu, which is pretty much everything. All your electronics, the engine and so on.
Established in 2002 it brings together people from all over the world to discuss their one love of Type R's.

The cam change is lowered to 3800rpm. I noticed on the motorway when cruising at 80ish, that the revs are above 3800rpm. Will it hurt the engine spending so much time on the high cams, or does it not change on part throttle?

If a cheapo open cone induction kit was the answer to extra power why do you think we all spend £400 or more on a good sealed box that draws air from outside of the car?
miniturbo wrote:The fact that its a whole ecu if anything goes wrong with the car could you not just replace the old ecu?? would it show up on some sort of plug in test that it has been taken out then put back in??Providing the keys don't have to be coded to the ECU you can swap back to your original ECU at any time. Any diagnostics would only recognise the data between the last reset of the ECU (eg when you last disconnected the battery
i want one but i also want my warranty

I know CPL are working on fabricating one but remember it took a couple of years for parts like sealed air boxes to come through for the EP3 so I expect it will be the same for the FN2. My recommendation is to stick with the OEM setupevilowl wrote:Why do you think that Honda fit sealed boxes as standard?Evilowl,

Please can you point me in the right direction, re: decent sealed air boxes?
I have noticed that since fitting my induction kit, the car does feel slightly slower. If I put the old filter back on, would it matter that its be sitting in my bedroom?
Cheers,

) and the time the dealer plugged their diagnostic equipment in.
Considering it only takes 5 minutes to swap an ECU over it's a bit of a no brainer. Make sure you inform your insurance company though

There is an alternative like this one:

...however I'd be afraid of water being sucked into the engine as the filter is located in the wheel arch. One big puddle and it's new engine time

Right im thinking of calling for one of these on saturday, one or two last questions though.
When you say the recoding of the keys do you mean for the imobiliser? The remote central locking etc still work of course? It is just a case of plugging in and all you loose is the imobliser, plug and drive. Nothing else goes other than the imobiliser?
and you mean if anything did go wrong and u swaped back to original, ud just have to tell the dealer that u had disconnected the battery and they would be none the wiser???
Thanks again
miniturbo wrote:Right im thinking of calling for one of these on saturday, one or two last questions though.Phone CPL to clarify these points. As far as I know your keys don't need coding to the Hondata ECU as you lose the immobiliser anyway, and that's what you recode the keys for on EP3's

geoff8386 wrote:I'm very interested in getting this.. however I have a few questionsHave you read the first 5 pages of this thread?
1. Honda Warrenty gone when fitted - how do they know - surely if something goes wrong or a service then replace the old ecu? - is this correct?
2. How much is the new ecu? on cpl racing have to call for a price.
3. where does the vtec excatly start from now (and end)
4. when I phone up my insurance - what excatly do I say "do I say a new ecu has been fitted" will they ask anymore questions
5. could there be possible upgrades in the future for this ecu
6 this is the only mod I would probably do as its not permanet i.e. you can replace it with the old version, if I was going to sell the car 2nd hand I would put the old ecu in take it for a spin to get used to old ecu and sell cpl ecu on ebay?
7. I've replaced the bulbs in the car - as I've done that could I replace the ecu myself!!
8. once fitted everything else works 1000% i heard before the imobillser didn't work
thanks in advance for your help.

geoff8386 wrote:4. when I phone up my insurance - what excatly do I say "do I say a new ecu has been fitted" will they ask anymore questionsI suppose it makes more sense to tell them that you've fitted a new ECU compared to telling them what you had for breakfast this morning??? Unfortunately neither I, nor probably anyone else on here works for your insurance company so I couldn't possibly hazard a guess what they will ask you....apart from perhaps your credit card number so have it handy when you call.
geoff8386 wrote:5. could there be possible upgrades in the future for this ecuMaybe. Maybe not. How long is a piece of string?
