I was really hoping this programme would show the actual outbreak and how people coped or tried to survive it. We didn't really get much of this. We got: two scenes of traffic jams, a few segues into news broadcasts basically saying "There's all these murders and stuff, what's happening oh crap it's real bad", a small riot where there was one zombie shown and no shots were fired, and then LOLTIMESKIP. Suddenly everyone is in a quarantine zone that seems to be coping perfectly fine, soldiers have been amazingly efficient at keeping the peace and foraging for supplies and running medical outposts, yet the entire city of LA outside of this zone (and other zones mentioned by soldiers) is purportedly a complete mess and nobody survived. Top top it off the survivors, just 9 days in even after being completely useless and living sheltered from the outside, are masters of infiltrating military compounds and already understand how zombies will follow any sound and know how to lead a large herd to the base. It took Rick and co months of actually surviving the things to figure out how to out-think them.
Disappointing.
