Spin off. It's the prequel.

Exclusive to BT.

Think AMC shot themselves in the foot, lets give something really popular to a company with a minority viewing.

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Hasn't been getting the rave reviews of the walking dead though.

I've watched all 5 episodes so far & so far it's kept me interested but last episode has made me think it's rubbish, hardly any zombies, from episode 2 to 5 nothing has changed or really happened & it's not got any tense/action in it so for me so far I rate it 4/10! Walking dead is a way bettrr storyline, better characters & always have zombies in it! Fear the walking dead... How can u fear it when they isn't one!

Yeah this is the problem. Because its set during events leading upto the mass outbreak there isn't much going on. Shame.

On reflection, I was a bit harsh on this show actually.

Season 1 was always going to set up characters, relationships and tell the story of social breakdown and confusion as a key part of the story that helps you understand not just what went on in L.A but also what went on whilst Rick was in a coma in Atlanta. It was only ever going to get six episodes from AMC as doing this was a pretty big commercial risk.

That said, it needs to not lose the audience so needs to pick up the pace by about 40% in Season 2.

I was really hoping this programme would show the actual outbreak and how people coped or tried to survive it. We didn't really get much of this. We got: two scenes of traffic jams, a few segues into news broadcasts basically saying "There's all these murders and stuff, what's happening oh crap it's real bad", a small riot where there was one zombie shown and no shots were fired, and then LOLTIMESKIP. Suddenly everyone is in a quarantine zone that seems to be coping perfectly fine, soldiers have been amazingly efficient at keeping the peace and foraging for supplies and running medical outposts, yet the entire city of LA outside of this zone (and other zones mentioned by soldiers) is purportedly a complete mess and nobody survived. Top top it off the survivors, just 9 days in even after being completely useless and living sheltered from the outside, are masters of infiltrating military compounds and already understand how zombies will follow any sound and know how to lead a large herd to the base. It took Rick and co months of actually surviving the things to figure out how to out-think them.

Disappointing.
