i pick up my FN2 type R in a week or so time, the honda dealer is servicing it for me before hand. im after some oil to keep in the boot for top-ups and future servicing, would this 5w40 be a good choice?..

I've currently got Fuchs supersyn 0w30 in my 2007 type r at the moment and was thinking of buying some of the Fuchs Titan race pro s While it is on offer at the moment.

I don't vtec a great deal but would like an even greater quality of oil to put in on it's next service as I intend to keep the car for a very long time. Would a 5w30 or 5w40 be best? I know Honda seem to use 0w30 but the other two are well within the accepted grades if I'm correct?

Hi

They are both fine to use, but if you don't use VTEC much, probably go for the 5w-30 to get the best (very marginally) fuel economy.

i know 5w40 full synth is the oil to use however i've spoken to Honda, few japanese specialists & general servicing garages and they are all saying 5w30! Just checked and i currently have 5w30 in mine at the moment which Honda put in.

5w-30 is fine to use, it just burns off quicker than 5w-40
