Ahh man that just hurts

You have to admit that you are in the minority, the Silkolene does improve the noise on most FTO's :cooldude:

You can use it but it is pretty simple stuff, try the 0w-40 from Castrol or Mobil if you dont want to order from the net, or...... you can call me to order  Not on the internet then :)

Cheers

A high spec 0/5w-30 is good for 90,000 miles without being changed as long as the filter is changed every 12 months/ 10,000 miles.

Of course oil companys don't tell us this because they want us to keep buying oil! :-x

If your changing your oil every 10,000 miles or 12 months any high spec 10w40 is good for any car on the road in this country, we just don't get the weather, too cold or too hot for any of the other spec oils to really come into play.

The only reason they do use these ultra thin oils in this country is to decrease drag on the engine which in turn improves fuel consumption. This helps emissions when tested for the governments 'official figures'.

Thanks for listening,

Mike.

I think this explains what this all is down to - Fuel Economy!

A3 and A5 are better performance oils all around.

A1 Fuel economy petrol
A2 Standard performance level
A3 High performance and/or extended drain
A4 Reserved for future use in certain direct injection engines
A5 Combines A1 fuel economy with A3 performance

Now. Im going to sound like a right idiot here. I know just about nothing about oil changes.

Im running low on oil just now, but im still a couple of months away from my next service.
Is it alright to do the oil change by myself?
I dunno where the draining point or anything is.
And If I we're to take the oil of my choice to my Honda garage. Would they charge me alot to do a simple change?

Looking to pick up some oil from yourself oilman ;)

Just looking for a bit of direction before I do so.

Cheers

Kaney,

Yes if you fancy ago at DIY change it yourself, you will also need a filter. The other option is to top up until next oil change service.

You garage should not have an issue with you supplying your own oil.

We tend to recomend 5w-40 synthetic, plenty to look at on my site.

Talking about the filter... Would the correct oil filter be a general filter, available at most garages, or would it be a Honda specific filter for the CTR?

Sorry for knowing f*ck all buddy.

Cheers.
