Hi Guys, Just purchased a little track project to work on over the winter.. I need a helmet very soon.. I'm tempted to buy a cheap open-face from eBay but I'm out of my depth.. I know I need to get a good fit, I have a full face for the push iron.

Would anyone recommend buying cheap? (Taking into account 'you buy cheap, you buy twice' motto

you dont need to go spend mad money on a track day helmet unless your on a bike. 80 to 100 should see you right

when it comes to safety equipment its not so much the buying twice you need to worry about its dieing because you cheaped out on some pretty important kit  if you can you want to go try on various helmets to see what fits best as a one size doesn’t always fit the same between the different manufacturers :bigthumb:

use your downhill lid.

i used my carbon one at cadwell the 1st time i went.

i bought an open face trails helmet as it can get very hot in the car on track and open face keeps you cooler.

An entry level open face OMP/Sparco is <£100 from Demon Tweeks/GPR.

That link is for a kart helmet, not what I would wear in a car personally. As for wearing a cycling helmet, please tell me that's a tarp.

As convenient as it would be, I don't think I will be wearing my DH lid Bren..(I'm looking for open face anyway, purely for visibility.)

So no-one really thinks that a £60 karting/track day helmet will be bad?
