hello folks, now i don't want to start a ruckus, but i was wondering. which of the two cars is the best performance wise.i know that the teg produces less power and torque,But its quite a lot leighter, has anyone ever compared the two on the road? Saw some tegs going past an ep3 at the japfest, but it depends on driver and car spec.

I think it's widely accepted that the DC2 is the most raw car. Was voted best front wheel drive car of all time too I think by Evo Magazine!

Have a quick search mate

There was an 5+ page, slightly biased  in-depth dispute on this a couple of months ago

But tbh you are asking a civic forum what dya want, go drive both and decide for yourself

Hi guys i don't want to start another debate but :

i have owned both a JDM 98 Spec Integra R and i currently have a JDM EP3.

when you compare an integra to a EUDM civic you ar not making a good comparison in my opinion .... i have driven a number of EUDM civics and i can assure you that the JDM car is noticably different especially since it has an LSD fitted as std.

so we should always compare an integra (both JDM and EUDM, since specs are very similar in this case) and a JDM civic ....

what i can say is that as regards engine and gearbox my past integra (which had an aem cai, full exhaust system, chipped ecu, lightened flywheel and modified 4th and 5th gears) is left behind by my standard civic ... the civic's engine (mine is the 215 ps version) is much stronger from low down and the gearing is phenomenal (mine has also the shorter 4th, 5th and 6th).

What the integra excels is in the handling, driver involvement department ... even though i can attack corners faster in my civic than i did in my teg the car doesn not inspire all the confidence that my teg used to give me .... i really loved that car ... and i wish i would buy one again but ....

why would ask did i sell her ?

simple i had the opportunity to buy a brand new JDM CTR from my local honda dealer and i couldn't resist (my integra was a jap import with over 150k kms on the clock), i couldn't keep the teg as well as i have financial restrictions

topic fits me, im looking at a DC2 also atm..... what kind of problems as i going to get with a 6-8 year old Integra though?? im not going to be buying a 100K plus one, due to the fact ive budgeted for a EP3, but the looks of the integra are better Imo.(+insurance is cheaper =P)

ill have a search for integra problems etc before i start asking stupid questions

quicker to what? 15mph.. 155mph? come on u forum warriors talk some sense.

The DC2 has (VERY) slightly more punch in 2nd and 3rd off roundabouts and of course the oh so important 0-60 its generally accepted as 6.2. Whereas the EP3 is again VERY slightly higher. so splitting hairs u could say to 60 the DC2 is quicker. But in reality after u have considered gear change times, the driver, the set off, the cars health, the tires condition etc etc ..there is nothign in them to 120 ish.. and when the DC2 goes into 5th it really dosent have as much go as the EP3 as in a lower ratio cog and has a more gruntier engine. Even then it will only creep away if that.

where the DC2 does better is traction out of corners and stability into them and around them. small gains but effective when experienced first hand.

If the DC2 excels in handling then how come you say you could attack a corner quicker in your CTR? That sounds a bit backwards to me :???:

Kinda like saying my CTR is faster in a straight line but i could beat it in a 1/4 mile sprint in a DC2

Personally i prefer the Teg. Prefer Coupes to hatchbacks. Also prefer the rawness of the ITR. That was the direction i went when i was tuning my old mk2 CRX VTEC

Handling isn't the same as ultimate grip though is it?

Handling to me, is about feel, poise, adjustability and so on, not how fast i can ultimately go round a corner.

I've owned both a EP3 and now own a DC2, and even when it was standard the car felt more alive and you could feel exactly what it was doing, although the difference between the two cars wasn't anything to write home about once on the road, the DC2 definitely handled better.

Exactly ...

Craig: I think you don't thave any idea of what handling really is ... civic grips better than teg but teg handles better

rgds,
Eh!! who the f*ck do you think you are telling me i don't know what handling is? Grip/handling work together, without 1 the other is wasted, just like your fist & arseh*le!! ;)

So basically you're telling me a car that has better grip, but less handling ability can attack a corner faster than a car that handles better :???: If you say so it must be true

Craig:

i wasn't rude to you... can you keep your tone down? ...

Hasnic understood me perfectly and you were the one to question it ... and i explained it to you and you're being arrogant.... why is that?

I think both cars are the ultimate big boys toy, 2 of the best front wheel drive cars for speed/handling and looks....and thats where I personally think the difference is in deciding what to buy. What shape you prefer? if you like civic buy 1, if you like integra buy 1 cos I know they have differences but they basicaaly the same, and lets face it most dont stay standard for to long!!!!

Its the damn steering on the CTR that p****s me off :-x Had they opted for the set up employed on the DC2 instead of the electrically dead numb rubbish it would have inspired more confidence.
I have driven a DC2 in anger and it is streets ahead when it comes to "feel" at the wheel.

I would personally traverse from A to B quicker in a DC2 than I would in a CTR, the CTR is a mediocre drive in comparison and sometimes quite scary :-|

I think another big factor is whether you use the car just for fun, or an every day car doing lots of mileage, another consideration is your own driving style. This is such a hard issue to debate cos I got EP3 but love the DC2 :vconf: :vconf: :vconf: . think I will stay out of this now lol but i know what you mean about EP3 sterring but dont you just love the oversteer you can get out of it....cos I do lol
