Just got avast on my NC10 and downloading superantispyware as we speak. do i need to download the comodo firewall or will avast and windows firewall suffice?

Alternatively shall i remove the avast and just download Comodo anti virus and firewall?

Fortinet have just released their Forticlient Endpoint Security product for completely free.

The free version is exactly the same as the entrerprise offering that we pay big bucks for at work but without central management. Includes AV, firewall, antispam, IPSEC client and web filter.

For those with kids and unfamiliar with the technology, the web filter enables you to block chosen categoties of site ie porn/gambling etc from the kids using the Fortinet database of url's.

Get it from.http://www.forticlient.com
The freebie client site is gash but have a look at http://www.fortinet.com for more info.

Anyone having problems with AVG free 2011?

I installed the other day after being prompted to and the install itself took ages (PC kept hanging during the install).

Now it's installed my PC is suffering from really bad hanging issues. It sometimes won't even open up a program or window or if it does it freezes not long after.

Had a quick Google and there do seem to be some teething issues with AVG 2011 so I might uninstall and try some of the free stuff listed here, or just bite the bullet and buy some AV software!!

The only reason I'd consider buying one is that the free ones all seem to cover everything but one so you have to combine them. Plus I can't quite fathom how Norton and the like get a way with charging £40 a pop for something when it's available for free elsewhere, so come to the conclusion that it must be "better"!

Anyway, I uninstalled AVG 2011 (PC became instantly better and didn't hang at all) and downloaded the Forticlient the fingery mentioned above. All going well so far, although it did block redtube when I tried to get on it on Saturday night!!!!!!! Soon resolved and panic over!

I set it up on my Mum's pc at her house and no problems at all, and this is the woman who falls for every phishing e-mail she ever gets.
QFT + 1

Honestly, don't bother with anything else. It's free, doesn't slow down you PC (or in AVG's case pretty much outright destroy it!) and picks up everything just as well, if not better, than any paid for AV program out there.

Simples

I need recommendations for internet security, please peeps.
I think I'm going to go for Kaspersky this time, unless anyone has a better idea.

I have to renew the internet security on 4 machines, but sadly the multi-license options are 1,2,3 & 5.
Typical.

Currently have Norton 360 on 2 of the machines, which I have not had any issues with, really.
PcPro A-list hasn't been updated for ages and recommends Trend Micro Titanium 2011, but this product doesn't score very highly in some other group tests.

The built-in Windows one - no need for any of that ZoneAlarm crap.
+1 to this... uses much less CPU and memory cycles than all the others and is truely invisible
