does anyone know which RAM would be compatible with my laptop? or how i would go about scanning/finding it. Tried looking for a thread a bit ago, but can't find it.

I might be missing something here but no one knows what laptop you have so can't really help you. I good start for buying memory is http://www.crucial.com/uk

Go to the crucial site and click your way through make / model etc. Make sure you take notice of how many expansion slots the laptop has - some only support replacing the current SODIMM, while others have a dedicated extra slot. Some even allow you to replace further RAM seated under the keyboard.
