Will this laptop do the job?

I've got an old Dell laptop knocking around. I need a secondary machine. It needs to boot fast, be fairly quick in terms of opening/switching programs, but it'll solely be used for Excel and web browsing. Specs:

2GHz Core 2 Duo
4GB average speed ram
320GB HD
Integrated graphics

The machine is around 4yrs old now. If I replace the CD drive with a small SSD, will it be quick enough for the above use? Or will I just be constantly frustrated by it?

Considering throwing a 32GB SSD and maybe Windows 10 on it.

Will be fine with an SSD, though 32g is too small. My windows folder is 31.1gig..........

It only needs to run Windows and Office, nothing else will be on there. 64GB is £35, will probably go for that.

Plenty ram and a 120gb ssd. Ram is fast, and Windows will take advantage of it.

Turns out it only has 3GB ram. It that still likely to be across 2 sticks? It's only 800mhz speed too

Is that because it's a 32bit version of windows & would only show 3GB?

Also I have a similar spec laptop (might only have 2GB ram) running Win10 on an SSD. It's OK for browsing & Excel but video playback is rubbish & choppy.

*Edit. Oh & it boots very fast.
