Just picked my car up from having these fitted...The car was in for a service so had them fitted at the same time for little cost.

I have them sat around for months not sure wether to put them in or not...Have read all the reviews about cabin vibration etc.

The car feels and sounds totally different, the cabin vibrates horribly on startup for a split second. The noise in the cabin from the exhaust is quite loud, almost like I've had a manifold fitted or something...lessens off the higher up the rpms you go. The gear change is lovely though, engaging the next gear at mid to high rpm's is effortless...smooth, precise and...well...just lovely.
At standstill/idle etc it wasn't as bad as I thought but if the rpm's dip below 800rpm for any reason..(pulling away/parking etc)..then it's very noticeable.
I have upped the idle to 880 via kpro, and it has helped alot. There is a vibration coming through the steering wheel...only slight tbh but you can feel it, but it doesn't feel like a rattley vibration, rather a solid reassuring one if that makes sense...

The car feels alot more solid, responsive and nicer to drive...are the negatives worth the improvements...?..imo yes.

I was probably only charged 30-40quid to fit them tbh, as they were doing lots of other stuff to the car...so it is a fairly in-expensive mod to backtrack on..

hope that helps someone thinking of fitting theirs, as I know there are more members with them some sat on the side, like I was, unsure wether to commit to it or not...lol

Just dont combine these with an ETD as well, itll drive you nuts!

Initially I was going to fit an etd on it's own but was advised to try the es mounts instead...

I´ve got a short question concerning the ESMMs. I´ve fitted them last week and took the car for a longer test drive today. What I´ve noticed is a somehow strange knocking noise, very noticeable when I´m between 3000 and 3500rpm and lift the gas pedal.

I can´t figure out where it´s coming from, anyone else had this after fitting the ESMMs? :scratch:

not something I've noticed mate tbh...not sure what that could be.

I´ll check again tomorrow. If the subframe is back on properly it only could be the downpipe or front sway bar I guess. :scratch:

The garage may of slightly bent the heat shield....

In other silly engine mount related stuff.. this guy seems to have over priced his ebay sell as these can be bought for £140-180 lol

You guys felt any increase is traction on hard launches? That was the reason I bought a set of ESMM'S for my car, but I havn't fitted them yet as it's still in the workshop. Just curious as those are the grounds on which i bought them for...

You wont get wheel hop anymore........so launching is better IMO

I removed the ESMMs again and the knocking sound is still there. We are suspecting a defective right driveshaft now.

I´ve re-installed the ESMMs after I knew something else causes the sound.

apparently my front engine mount is split, TDi said it wasn't much of a problem and can be left until next time i go up there, however i want to get it done soon as as these things can quickly get on top of you!

i assume the es mounts go in the front and rear engine mounts, would a local garage be able to change the mount and fit inserts, or would honda do it do you think?

iirc honda charge about 150 quid to replace the front engine mount??

The ES inserts went straight into my split front mount, from what I gather it really doesn't matter what state the front rubber part of the mount is in as the inserts change it into a solid block. £30 beats £80 for a genuine mount + fitting fo' sho'.

Not what I would do tbh...my front mount was ronnied and after looking at it I didn;t fancy just whacking in the inserts so I replaced it and had the inserts fitted for about an extra 30quid at my local garage ftw.....honda ftl.

N&N If you look at the mount with the inserts in and the bolt through it there's no way that flimsy bit of rubber in the standard mount is going to make a difference, chances are there's only one of the 4 rubber legs split anyway.

Don't get me wrong in an ideal world the mount should be replaced, but I reckon anyone would struggle to spot the difference between a split mount with inserts and a brand new mount with inserts.

It's strange as i don't feel the vibration in the cabin and that's also with the etd on quite hard.

Unless I'm just used to it :scratch:

Don't notice it at all either, just read through what I wrote back then and can't remember it being that bad tbh...I did notice driving pawns old ctr though how quiet it was, and he had a buddyclub exhaust and I have standard backbox, his was loads quieter than mine.

think i'm going to buy a new front mount and get a local garage to fit it, with the mount inserts...

so that's about 100 quid for parts...

and i'm guessing about 75 or so for labour :scratch:

1 hour would be enough tbh, 2 at the very mostest

quality, i'll get that ordered in the near future then, local garage are a great bunch and friends of my mum, i don't normally let them touch my car as i'm a bit of a garage snob!

but a 500 mile round trip is a lot to take it to the usual garage... although TDi did say it could wait :vconf:
