I did the K series standard air box mod today, where you saw the baffle out of the airbox to allow more air to get to the filter, took it out for a test drive and it didn't seem to make a lot of difference, took it to sixth but it won't rev past 6,000 rpm it just stays there, and when i'm stationary and rev the arse off it, the rev limiter comes in at 5,500 rpm, the vtec comes on it every other gear except sixth, any ideas people?

thanks in advance

The car shouldn't VTEC when stationary. The ECU won't let it happen.

Apart from that, I have no idea mate, sorry.

When I put a K&N filer in my CRX the top end was a nightmare, it really struggled over a Ton. I guess the same thing is happening to you. I’m not sure on the reasons but the top end always seems to suffer in my experience.

There is no reason I can think of which would cause this to happen after the work you have done. Make sure that any sensor on the induction system you might of disturbed is securly connected, also check the connection of the vehicle speed sensor (at the G.box end of the speedo cable) is securely connected.

Other than that you could try resetting the ECU. Best way is to pull the ECU fuse from the fuse box and leave it out for as long as you can. Refit the fuse and see how it goes.

On a runway or similar naturally

VTEC won't come on at idle and the airbox mod only releases 2-3 BHP in dyno conditions. They do state people will see no difference on the road and it is for dyno use only really...

whats all this disconnecting the battery business when power is down?

Why does this occur?

Disconnecting the battery resets the ECU memory. This will clear any fault codes stored which may be causing the ECU to think there is a fault when in reality there isn't one.

Of course if there is a fault then the code will reappear and your car will be down on power warrenting a visit to your dealer.

there is not much difference with noise or response really, because i still have the standard filter on it, i suppose if you got a k&n replacement one it would take more air in, i live near demon tweeks they got this display stand there with a standard filter and a tube with a ping pong ball in it, you press a switch and a fan blows air through the filter and it only lifts the ball half way up the tube, now swap the original filter for the k&n one, swith the fan on the a ball is rattling at the top of the tube. just shows how restrictive the standard filters are
