Snapped Bonnet Release Cable

The bonnet release cable on my 2002 Type-R EP3 has snapped. Not the pull tab, the cable at the release catch end, Anyone got any ideas on how to open the bonnet. I really need access to the catch itself. I have Googled and YouTubed it but have decided that no one seems to get the problem and come up with the strangest suggestions. Hoping a sane person might know.
