Well guys and gals,

I'm back in an EP3 after four years driving dirty diesels.... have regretted selling the last one from the day and hour I sold it!

Most of you will be familiar with this car, bought from mikegsi. Jumped on a plane to Newcastle, train to Darlington, and a scenic run up to Cairnryan for the ferry back to N.I.

Couple of age related marks on car, and a dent above passenger door handle, but i'm going give the car a full lick in the spring, as well as freshen up the rocker cover etc

Car came with a serious amount of paperwork and receipts, so I wasn't put off by the high mileage

Image

Car has been heavily modded, and I don't intend to change much, apart from the HKS exhaust, suspension geo, and below scoop from FiberWorx, its a great car as it is.

MOT'd car Thursday past, no issues at all.

Apart from the tester asking me if i'd put the 6k HID's in myself, I answered "why, are they a fail?"

The reply was hilarious, "installed HID's must have washer jets and self levelling, but I dinny care!" What a legend!

He jumped into the car and we had a right yarn about modded cars, he got the iPhone out and started showing me pictures of his chaser.

Anywho, pre-MOT I gave underside a once over with scutch to keep her sweet for the winter

Started sanding OEM's back today for a refurb, time to get the winter tyres on before the weather gets any worse.

Image

Bought this head for the grinder. It's definitely too aggressive for the face. But did an excellent job in the backs for removing all the residue from weights.

Image

Image

Defo need to tidy my bench too. A job for tomorrow methinx, in between filling the wheels and sanding them back.

Image

I'm thinking of a dark bronze or takata green for the respray.

Couldn't find the hardener for the fillers, because the garage is a mess........

So I polished my knob!

Nice an shiny

I used P180 to 1500 for the high shine. You could stop around 600 for a satin finish.

So the paint reacted when I was lashing on the base coat....... Not amused.

Have them rubbed back and got different thinners.

Hopefully goes to plan this evening.

Cheered myself right up with some Monday purchases

KCE-400BT module for my CDA-117ri, not fussed on the HU that came on the car

O yesh. Ready for lacquer......

Went for an equal mix of high sparkle silver and black to achieve this shade.
Wasn't convinced on the bronze or green so played it safe

Before lacquer

I think bronze suits NHB... and Milano's for that matter, providing it's the correct shade applied. Anyway, those wheels appear to have turned out pretty peachy!!!!!!!!!

Car off the road for next couple of weeks as a pleb came across me on a round about............

Image

Image

Couple jobs needed doing so I fell to it this weekend while I still have her.

First up idle control valve, car was idling very erratic since laying up for a couple of weeks, and wasn't idling too well in traffic either.

So off with the TB.

Image

Screws on control valve need a wee tap with impact driver.

Image

As expected, large deposits of carbon.

Image

Image

The screws on the denso plug were 5 point security screws. Didn't have correct bit, it's a bit rash I know, but hacksaw to rescue and a straight tip on the impact driver and they came off ok.

Image

Image

Wee mans toothbrush commandeered for service.

Image

Washed valve with carb cleaner until the spindle moved freely again, and gave the TB the once over too

Everything back together and tested. Proper job!

Then onto the gearbox mount insert. What a pig of a job. After a serious amount of cursing and a trip to halfrauds got it sorted.

Image

Sold the HKS and got a really good condition Teg catback. So that went on too.

Image

Image

So an eventful weekend. Hopefully a mate coming to take car away tomorrow so we can get up on the lift. Going to install uprated bushings all round while I'm at it.
