So been a little busy doing a few things and sorting out the drop links.

Unfortunately had a ball ache getting them removed, and managed to damage the front LCA while me and the old man were trying to remove them, so managed to obtain a pair that are in much better condition anyway to replace them both.

So I got these while I was at it, so it will tighten things up and the front nicely...

Image

However upon the mechanic going to fit them along with the LCA's it was found some things were missing.

I called up Tegiwa where they were purchased from to be told at first they use the existing ones. However when speaking to the mechanic and being informed they were all part of the bush, I was being fobbed off. So another call to Tegiwa and I was told to send a photo of the things I had received, luckily I took this one.

To cut a long story short they have sent me the missing metal sleeves so they can be fitted, but unfortunately they are still yet to be fitted, so all that has been done so far are the drop links all around and the replacement LCA, so will need to book it in again to have the other LCA fitted and the bushes.

Also managed to refurbish the centre caps, so resprayed them and fitted new red H's and clear coated them.

Image

Also did some cleaning in readiness for something that was coming up and also for JAE.

So the tedious job of cleaning in between the rear badges.

Image

Image

I noticed the rear Type R badge the paint was coming away, so a cheap easy fix for now was to replace it with a vinyl R that is exactly the same size and fitted perfectly.

Image

Will do for now but will replace the badge at some point along with the H badge as it is starting to go a bit now, but didn't fancy removing them at the moment.

So after all the cleaning of the outside the engine bay of the car had been neglected and probably the dirtiest on the car really, so it was time to tackle it.

Image

I used a combination of Gunk Ultra, Megs APC and AB Jaffa Clean.

Image
Image

Before of the engine bay and under the wings and the strut towers, it was filthy.

Image

Rocker cover cleaning up nicely but unfortunately it has suffered with the paint peeling off and more and more was coming off it as I was cleaning it, so I left it alone.

Will get a refurbished one shortly as I can't leave it like that for too long as it will bug me.

Afters of the side panels under the wing, and also the intake manifold had pitted, so Gunk Ultra has got most of the marks off but will keep plodding along with it and keep working on it bit by bit.

Also managed to clean up the tail pipes as well using Megs Metal cleaner and they have come up very nicely.

Image

Didn't manage to give it a proper polish but have been cleaning it regularly so it doesn't see much dirt, so cleaned and dried, then Autobrites Cherry Glaze and this was the result.

Then on Bank Holiday Monday I made a trip to Derby for this...

Image

Image

Image

This is what I have been cleaning the car for the last couple of days, although it was spoilt by raining all the way up there :(

However it did pay off putting the cherry glaze on and the water soon wiped off with my Wolly Mamouth.

Basically the shoot was for a magazine that will feature Type R's shortly, so keep your eyes peeled :D

On the way back I went and picked up the Progress ARB from a forum member.

Image

He said it had not been fitted to the car very long but it certainly has seen better days, but where it is positioned it is not hard to see why, so I am going to try a bit of refurbishment.

Image

Image

Image

So I have started to strip off the old paint and try and remove some of the surface rust that has been eating through the powder coating. It has really eaten through to the metal so need to clean them up a bit more before I spray them.

Going to try and use some stone chip paint for durability being the position of where it is located and to stop the rust getting any further.

To be continued

i tried the vinyl stickers on my badge, thought they looked worse than no paint, just bit the bullet and got a new badge

I probably will eventually as I have a feeling the next time I used the jet wash it will be off

So after some sanding and spraying my Progress ARB now looks like this...

Looks a lot better than it did, not perfect as I couldn't get rid of all the rust but this should keep it a bit neater under there.

Might get some more of this stone chip stuff, really good coverage and seems to dry well, might use it under the car and arches, only £6 a can.

Also thanks to Spooner Restorations my cam cover will be sorted shortly too, although not for JAE :(

So on the way back last week it was raining and so the car was a little dirty and wet when I got back.

So got it out today and gave it a clean, deciding to get some new plates made or wait as I may put my plate that's on retention or get another plate, was thinking N77 CTR which would go well.

So took off the plates to give them a clean behind

Image

Then the next job was the one I wish I could of sorted before the photoshoot but it didn't show that badly, but it's pissing me off everytime I clean it so my fresh clean and stone chip free front end, well bonnet yet to do.

Image

Image

Getting there slowly, couple of things to do but may wait until after JAE.

So in readiness for JAE decided to do a bit more tidying up.

Image

So out come the battery so I could get underneath and give it a clean, was filthy with a really thick layer of dirt built up, so I am glad I have managed to remove it.

Image

Image

Took out the plastics and give those a clean up too and the battery.

Image

After a bit of Gunk to soak in it all wiped out okay and cleaned up ready to put it back in.

Image

Image

The reason for the clean up was so I could put the battery cover I got from a forum member on and also fit my tie bar and fitting kit to tidy things up.

Getting there but still a few things I want to do under there.

Image

Image

Image

After taking the number plates off and replacing the front bumper, I couldn't put my old plates on too, so got a new set of those as well

Will be giving it another coat of cherry glaze tomorrow and that will be it, ready for it to get dirty again on the way to JAE
