Mugen 200

Hi guys

New car time! After two and a half years of loving my EP3, I wanted something a bit newer, whiter, exclusive and a Type R. I was so close to buying an FD2, but after weighing up the pros and cons, I decided on a Mugen 200 and bought this beauty from Scotland yesterday.

23K miles, FSH and immaculate inside and out - 100% worth the trip up!

Having driven it back to Cardiff, the 400 mile trip of twisty A roads and motorway confirmed I've made the right choice and I couldn't be happier! I know the FN2 gets a bad rep - I remember watching Clarkson destroy it when convincing myself on the EP3 - but for me it's the perfect car. For motorway cruising I've got bags of refinement and toys and the handling difference off the motorway with the LSD is something else Having driven the FD2 also, I'm sure it's a few seconds faster around Tsukuba, but for what I do on a daily basis, the difference is minimal.

Somehow it looks better in the flesh too and the induction note is amazing. The car is completely standard with the exception of a K&N panel filter. Not sure how much difference it makes to the noise over standard, but it's a lifetime filter either way.

I'm removing my Spoon calipers from my EP3 prior to selling, with a view to improving the braking performance on this. I know... mixing Spoon and Mugen, but, meh, whatever. If they don't fit straight on however, I'll sell them and keep the car 100% standard. Outside of that I have no plans. I know that's boring, but as there are only 200 around and I paid the Mugen premium up-front, I feel I've done enough for now!

Hope you guys like it.

Couple of the two together. If only I could keep them both!

Cheers mate. Still undecided on the wing for now. Plus I need to sell my EP3 before I do anything further!

Nice car, sweet being rarer than your average fn2 [smilie=karls_thumb.gif]

Having seen a "pimped" version at tdi I reckon you open your wallet!

J's wings as a start

I thought that

I'm really in love with the mugen fn2s, I see a fully loaded one at japfest this year with all the mugen optional extras, spoiler, front wings, bonnet and mugen 4 pots. Was my favourite car of the show.

Do love the white FN2s especially one with mugen bits. I think it looks good without the spoiler.

Thanks for all the comments guys!

Really not sure on the OEM filter, although it seems it needs replacing having done a quick forum search. Either way, very happy sticking with the panel filter!

very nice!

I went from Prem in Cosmic Grey to a CW CTR years back and it was a great jump up in car, enjoy! [smilie=karls_thumb.gif] [smilie=karls_thumb.gif]

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. Surprised no-one has said it's just a CW Edition in a frock - which it clearly is

I'm really loving it. Can see why some people hate FN2s - feels a lot heavier than the EP3, but the LSD is unbelievable. First car I've owned with one and I'll never go back now.

Brief update, albeit a very minor/boring one.

Popped my EP3 Mugen goodies under the bonnet:

Got more bothered than I should have that the key didn’t have a red ‘H’ on it:

Upgraded the yellow sidelights to some white LEDs to try and match the HIDs. Can’t really tell anything from this picture, other than everything is sort of white now:

General thoughts on the car after two weeks of ownership is that it’s still awesome. Still can’t praise the LSD enough for the grip it now gives me and the induction roar is completely addictive. Not going to get into yet another EP3/FN2 debate, but as much as I miss the old car, this is better in my opinion.

I also didn’t realise just how much attention the car would get. I really like how it looks (obviously) and thought the Honda forums might appreciate it, but everywhere I go I get people stopping and staring – they appear to be doing it in a positive manner too :-D Over a Honda!

I must admit I’ve never worried about a car so much as with the M200 which is sending my girlfriend slowly insane.
